My understanding is that his stage persona is a cross dresser, but I think he does the man thing irl. I'm not basing that on any actual knowledge, though.

Total sidenote, but Der Untergang is one of the most powerful movies I've seen. God damn, Ganz is a fine actor.

And it's hard to follow the subtitles when you actually understand German at a decent level. :giggle:

Yeah CC I was wondering if that would have an impact or not. I almost suggested turning the volume down, but I think the verbal cues are important.

Yeah, it messes with your mind to listen and read subtitles that are not translations.

That movie was very good. I think I'll have to watch it again.

I enjoyed the first part of that iSketch video, but lost interest because of all the in-jokes I didn't really get.

I didn't enjoy the iSketch video either. If the actors hadn't been so good it might have made me laugh, but as it was, I was struck by how dreadful that time and place was, and it just annoyed me that someone was tying to get a cheap laugh out of such an effective and harrowing portrayal.

Eddie Izzard is a transvestite in RL, and introduced it into his stage work from, I think, a desire to be honest about himself on stage, and because he guessed that British audiences would go with him. I guess he's not cross-dressing in the US because he guesses American audiences aren't ready for it.
