Default Twitter is already headed towards becoming the everything app

Because most people don't think big, and censorship is considered "normal and good", the concept of an "everything app" is far fetched, hard to believe, much less imagined.

While doom scrolling Twitter last night I found a little button that says "tip" on Twitter.

That's right, a tip button. (if you realize what this means, you are a goddamn genius my good sir)

Then I remembered Musk made his first fortune with PayPal. Then I did some checking and realized he has already said it, it just never made it into a Twitter post.

He's making the everything app. Communicate, publish, review, shop, buy, sell, gift, hail a ride, order food, raise money, have something delivered, write travel reviews, business reviews, find a dog walker, dating, campaigning, debate, rant, announce, whatever you want to do, it's on the app, which is already on your phone.

The word "huge" doesn't come close to describing this.

Let the doubter, the haters and the like say what they will. This could shake up a lot of apple carts, especially the ones that make a lot of money right now.

Who needs to sell ads when the app allows you to do everything? Shitfuck, you might just pay a monthly fee, to be able to do anything and everything on one app.

There is a part of me that says this is not possible. Which is exactly what I thought when I first saw PayPal.

Paypal is currently worth twice what Twitter sold for.

I'm so old I can remember when Elon Musk made 22 million by selling Zip2, which he started in 1995, then started PayPal, then sold that and made $180 million in 2002

He started SpaceX in 2002, then started Tesla in 2003

But hey, if some nobody with no money wants to tell me how it all went, knock yourself out

Let me know how that works out for you

The belief that Space Karen simply HAS to be far more than a famous example of trash rising to the top is one of the more entertaining tenets of the Douchenozzlist religion.

With Musk it’s really hard to tell if he thinks trying to pester people into paying through memes used by people who are emotionally children to bully their peers into conforming is a legit business strategy or if he’s signaling the level of intelligence he plans to target.

If anything, by pushing a subscription model over both ad and whale models makes it clear Musk doesn’t have any long term plans for his purchase.

You can tell how terrible Twitter has become by how nobody is talking about Twitter anymore

Now Mastodon, that's where it's at. With 70,000 members, and a decentralized leftist run bunch of different forums, (all run by commies and anarchists, nobody tells them what to do), it has simply overpowered the 450 million daily users on Twitter.

That's why everybody is talking about it, and talking on it. Twitter is old news, a failed enterprise, not worth a fraction of the thousands of dollars Mastodon is worth.

Perhaps Musk is less confident than you are in the eventual success of his approach.

Of course, running a website with hundreds of millions of users with almost all of the engineering teams having quit or been fired over petty bullshit doesn't seem like a great idea, but I suppose if Musk says it, you'll believe it regardless of what actual software engineers say.

When testing out new rockets, almost all of them explode. Giving up because at first you don't succeed, is not how you succeed.

So Twitter was a $44 billion rocket that's going to explode?

I wonder how many more $44 billion rockets Musk can afford to launch :chin:
