We're having' a heat wave!

Here, the temps have risen 10 degrees over the past 24 hours and today are supposed to rise above freezing. A 'warm' front with lots of rain will push the stalled cold air mass out....giving us transitional freezing rain. Thankfully, that will be midday and by evening rush hour, it should all be over and we'll be back into our normal winter drizzle.

just to the north of ya, they originally forecast 17° on the evening weather, but this morning they changed it to 11° (WE WUZ ROBBED!)....

there is something about hitting 15° that takes the sting out of the air...

Cold. It's strange, it's the same temp here in Berlin as it is was when I left in Atlanta but it seems...colder somehow. Not windy, just colder.

i had it pointed out to me today that here on the south shore of the upper lake, we only had four and a half months without snow in 2013.... the last snow of the winter before was a whopping 20 inches May 15th... and the first snow of the current season was Oct 28th...

We have ice, about a half inch of it on everything, power outages, tree branches down, etc. However, the roads are good though, the ground is still too warm.

There has been no melting today, nor will there be tomorrow, but it is supposed to get above freezing Tuesday and warm up a little more each day though next Saturday.

Last night, it rained, then it froze, and then it snowed a bit this morning. Before it started to melt in the sun, I caught a few pictures.

Huge low pressure system tearing across the Atlantic right now. Left Canada only yesterday and is due to hit southern UK later today and Scotland on Christmas Eve. It's propelled by near-record 270mph jet stream and forecast to possibly beat the lowest pressure ever recorded over the UK (925 mBar).

I think we're 1 below. The sun's out, which is great from a SAD point of view, but it also means it's really cold out.

NWS had forecast a high of 40ºF for today, but here it is almost 9:30 AM and we're only at 19ºF. I have no confidence at this point that we'll even get above freezing. And if the wind begins to blow as forecast, we're going to have a lot of problems with trees, branches, and powerlines that still have ice all over them.

Ice storms here, followed by snow. I took some pictures but haven't taken them off the camera yet. I lost power for about a day. My sister lost it for two. My mom never lost power but had no phone, cable or internet for three days. Much of the city still has no power. My only real issue is that I screwed something up manually opening my garage door and now I need a new opener. I'm waiting for payday on that.

This cold dry weather is playing havoc with my pin block, it's drying out and the pins aren't holding the strings in tune. Every time one gets loose I reset it and several more that are just on the verge of letting go, do so and I end up tuning several more keys. We have a whole house humidifier in the system but it isn't keeping up, 16% in the house right now, and it should be at least 40%.

It's way above freezing (like 5°C), and perpetually cloudy and significantly rainy.

Just a few degrees lower and we'd have actual snow.
