Health and Fitness Track, 2018
My employer struck a deal with Lifetime Fitness whereby we get 1/2 price membership so long as we visit the club at least 6 times a week, so I joined up. I also gave them a limb in exchange for 8 personal training sessions and 8 Pilates sessions. The personal training is over, thank god, but I've decided to continue with Pilates twice a week for the foreseeable future. It's a lot of great core work and since I have a habit of throwing out my back, I need that.
I've also been living a "low-carb" lifestyle, by which I mean no bread, pasta, sugar, etc. unless the net carb count is low, and trying to keep the overall calorie count low as well. I've lost 10 pounds in the ~5-6 weeks I've been doing this but I know I can do better. I too often use fact that I'm avoiding carbs as an excuse to eat more than I need of low-carb foods.
I've been happy with my decision to cut carbs overall, especially since the less I eat the less I crave them. I highly recommend bread products from thinslimfoods.com (thanks @livius) for great tasting, low-carb bread products.

Re: Health and Fitness Track, 2018
Being 135 pounds lighter than a year ago, thanks to gastric bypass surgery, I ran a 1K "fun run" on March 2nd. I actually ran it, for the most part. Then I entered a 4K run in Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area. I finished 3rd in my age group (61-70), 121st overall, despite falling 3 times, falling on my face the 3rd time. I ran the 4K in 42:55. I hurt my left shoulder and both knees. I shan't be doing such in the near future. My goal is to do a 5K obstacle course in May. I am someone who never ran in my life, not any distance at all. In fact, I would warn people, "If you see me running, you should be running too, because there is something chasing me."

Re: Health and Fitness Track, 2018
Dinglefod will always have me beat. Though if I hit my target it won't be by much. I think I've mentioned it before, but at my bortliest I was at least 280 and likely closer to 300. Just last week I slipped below 160. When I started this project I didn't have any dreams or target as far as weight goes. But, I thought, hey if I get to 175 that'll be great. When I got close and then passed that, I thought in the 150s would be nice and wondered if lower was possible. As of now 145 is the dream target, but low 150s to high 140s would suit me just fine.
That's all the good news. As a final struggle to my journey my eyebowls need medical attention. It seems in my fatness, plus diabetus, plus high blood pressure, I've developed retinal edemas that aren't going away on their own. But I'm seeing people for that so it's being handled.
