Group is back together. We are playing Timelords. We're the team who rescued Susie Cleland.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons
I'm gonna go to my very first D&D game this Sunday. I've been working on a character with the DM, she's a High Elf Cleric of the Knowledge Domain and she has a Noble background.
I'm excited

Re: Dungeons and Dragons
It was great!
A friend that we play Magic with knew that we had played little to no D&D, so she put together a little baby intro quest for us. It was me and bey and another couple that we were meeting for the first time (though ostensibly I should have known the guy from work? ). It seemed like they had plenty of D&D experience, but they were keen to play in newbie mode with us, and they had fun miniatures and dice and things to share.
You guys, do you even know how fucking convoluted this game is? I mean I knew it was involved but damn, not like this. If I hadn't started on my character sheet a month ahead of time, and legit studied these videos, I would have been completely lost. No joke, I did not even work this hard in college.
I had a lot of fun developing my character ahead of time, and doing the quest itself. While all the math stuff was way harder than I thought it would be, the story-telling part came way more easily than I expected. It was really fun to collaborate and come up with the story together. I think it definitely helped having the people we had and the DM we had. Which, duh.
Would play again.

You should see GURPS. Or probably not, you shouldn't see GURPS.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons
Interesting thing happened after my game today : DnD
Quote:
I run a DnD club in my school that sees all types of students from sports kids to theater kids and AP to special ed. The school is predominately Hispanic, and one student comes to me explaining how she was really quiet during the game because she didn’t know how to say certain phrases in English. I thought about this for a second and asked her questions about her (Elf Fighter’s) background. She said that she was a Noble High Elf, and I suggested that as part of her background her family didn’t allow her to learn Common which explains for why she only knows so much Common (English). I then proposed to the game if we made Elvish Spanish so that she can express questions in the game in Spanish and have one of our Half-Elven or Elven Spanish speakers ask the question in English to the group so that I’m helping my student learn English while also giving them something unique and special about their character. The last thing I want is a kid thinking they cannot play because of a language barrier. This is a game for everyone.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons
Every other Saturday I run a D&D game for my son and his non-neurotypical peers at our house. Two NNT girls in this Lord Of The Flies NNT world. I am fucking blessed by a non-existent invisible omnipotent Sky Wizard for reals.
