Re: SALAD!!
My ideal salad has enough shredded carrots, ham, bacon bits, shredded cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, sunflower kernels, and salad dressing on it that nothing green can been seen. And, by green, I mean iceberg lettuce.

Re: SALAD!!
Pretty simple really. Main salad area, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes. Ranch dressing. The ratio of tomatoes and cucumbers to lettuce should allow me to never have take a bite of salad that would only consist of lettuce.
On the side, some egg salad or sliced hard-boiled egg, with fresh bacon bits.

Re: SALAD!!
a bed of mixed dark greens: anything will do
corn kernels
peas
broccoli
carrots
cucumbers
tomatoes
sliced peppers
maybe chile peppers or pepperocinis, depending on how they look
anything else veggie-licious
and absolutely, must have for favorite salad: beets!
For toppings:
peanuts or sunflower seeds
real bacon bits
croutons only if they are made at the restaurant (deep fried) and only a few
sometimes a dollop of cottage cheese
tons of freshly ground black pepper
Dressing:
I'll douse the salad with balsamic or red wine vinegar
I prefer to have a creamy blue cheese dressing on the side so I can control delivery, but if not, then I'll drizzle a bit on top at the salad bar.

Re: SALAD!!
My standard salad bar fare is spinach or Romaine, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, mushrooms, hard-boiled eggs and chunky bleu cheese dressing, with a little side dish of three bean salad, cottage cheese and fruit.

Re: SALAD!!
Shredded lettuce, chopped red and yellow pepper, half a boiled egg, cottage cheese, little grated carrot, lots of red onion, finely sliced cucumber, diced tomato, bit of pasta salad, little bit of stilton, some sweetcorn.
My mouth's watering.

Re: SALAD!!
Mixed greens with:
diced ham or turkey (or both!)
lots of diced tomatoes
lots of red onion
crumbled blue cheese
bacon bits (must be real of course, none of those fake thingies)
sliced black olives
tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette/blue cheese (half and half) dressing.
So basically a Cobb-type salad without the avocado.
Greek salad is also something I can eat a whole lot of.

Not as far as I'm concerned. It's not that I hate it, it's just *meh*.

Re: SALAD!!
Heh well I am glad to know I am not the only one who doesn't like it. I might have given it more of a chance if it was really healthy or something but I don't need to develop a taste for something THAT fattening!

Re: SALAD!!
Bed of typical greens--iceberg, romaine, and the like. Diced egg and ham, julienned carrots and cheese, croutons, and ranch dressing.

It's been my experience that most people do. And living here in Southern California, avocado is one of the major food groups, I think. People who know me try to make sure they are sitting next to me at restaurants as they know any avocado that shows up on my plate is up for grabs. Shrimp, too.
I'd ask the waiter to hold the avocado, but I enjoy the fleeting popularity.

Re: SALAD!!
Lately the Mor-man has been making this great salad and I am obsessed.
Baby Arugula/Spinach mix
Goat Cheese
Spicy/Honey Pecans
Red Onion
Any kind of creamy dressing
Lots of fresh ground pepper
He adds loads more to his, cukes, tomatoes, peppers etc.... but I just like the minimal described. I swear I've had it everynight for 2 weeks, the spicy-sweet pecans really make it.
