The facts about Covid-19 are slowly coming to light, especially since there is no longer censorship on all forms of media.

It’s real!
The funny part is, this was apparently designed before covid so the face mask doesn’t seal but instead just flows purified air over your face.

Nothing to see here. Just the likely semi-permanent background level of covid plus people being cautious before flying to summer holidays.

Former Covid medical officer Van-Tam takes role at vaccine maker Moderna | Pharmaceuticals industry | The Guardian

No one will be surprised that one of the medical advisors who regularly appeared alongside Boris Johnson during the period of the daily government COVID briefings, urging everyone to take all their booster shots, has now accepted a well-paid job with one of the firms manufacturing said shots.

Of course, he was first knighted for 'his work on the pandemic', along with the other government advisors. They have all largely disappeared from our screens since then, and certainly have nothing to say about persistent cases of high excess deaths in all age groups we've seen over the last two years.

How common is this in the UK? In the US, the rotation of people between an industry and the bureaucracy regulating it is extremely common.

It's super common here too - especially with industries like pharmaceuticals and military equipment, where the government not only controls the regulatory framework, but is also the main customer.

"Yes, that all looks legal and effective to me. Here's a billion pounds of taxpayer's money. By the way, do you have any well-paid jobs available?"

My husband went to a conference last week and brought the plague back into our home. He hasn't tested positive yet, but one of his group did and he has a sore throat, so only a matter of time. I am resigned to it as the probability of getting Covid is basically 1, but we managed to avoid the prior waves.

Oh yeah did I mention I had it a couple weeks ago? No one else from the wedding had it, but our housesitter did, so I'm guessing I picked it up from the house after we got back. Two days of ucky flu-ish symptoms, several more days of just generally dragging ass. I'm privileged enough that it didn't cause any insurmountable setbacks in my life.

I probably had it a few weeks ago. It was bad for about a week. Never got tested (what's the point?) but I had most of the reported symptoms. Sore throat was *very* sore, making it painful to swallow anything - even small tablets.

I still don't have any symptoms. Husband still hasn't tested positive, though I don't think he tested today - like cep says, why? - but still feels pretty rough. No cough, mainly just tired and congested. I'm just staying home so I don't spread it around. Maybe it's just a cold, or maybe I've just lucked out so far. We've been treating it like Covid only because one of a group of 6 who rode in his car at the conference has tested positive. But no one else in the group has so far. Pick any group of 6 people right now and there's a pretty good chance one of them will be positive at any given moment, I guess.

We had a big party for my sister's 60th last Sunday and at least four of the attendees have since become sick and tested positive, but as far as I know about 20-30 others haven't and some of those who did interacted outside of the event, so it's hard to know whether people got it from the event or just coincidentally. Btw @ceptimus the super sore throat was the worst part of this latest experience for me, too. Thankfully that part only lasted a couple days but that can seem like an eternity when every swallow hurts.
