The other day I worked all day with a guy from Ohio, big librul hatin' Dump supporter. I always just keep my own counsel when politics comes up on the job, so he doesn't really know anything about my politics. He volunteered that Dump lost him with the virus. His kid has problems and the guy is smart enough to realize that Dump has totally screwed up the response and he said that he won't vote on election day. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I heard a Dump fan give any ground on dear leader in the last three years.

Light is stronger than darkness and all this other feely stuff. Tell me this is going away soon. It's "when they go low" recapitulated. Need something better than that, punchier.

"Rather than bring those attacks towards him, Biden is going to make a positive case for what he will do for America if elected, and then allow President Obama, Kamala Harris and others to attack Trump and engage with him. Trump will likely spend much of his energy attacking those surrogates, but voters aren't voting based upon their opinions of Obama or Harris. They are wasted attacks. Biden has done very well by staying above this fight so far, and I think he wants to continue it."
Newsweek is an iffy source these days, but I hope this professor is right, that surrogates attacking Trump is what Biden intends to do and that it will work as he detailed.
Because I know Trump's thin skinned ass wont be able to let those Obama attacks go, look at the desperate way he went after Michele for not getting the number of Americans that Trump has killed high enough.
Or even alluding to anything he has or has not done.
Avoiding you know who's name would be cool, but highlighting the things he has done and not done has to be one of the central parts of the campaign - always of course stating what Biden/Harris "if elected" would do instead.
I posted this with a Joe Biden video on Facebook. I found the ad and the moment during the DNC moving. I know that was the point, and yet.
After my father had his stroke and when I was five, he speech was strongly effected. I had my own speech impediment growing up, hell there are those that say I still have one as I am so afflicted by my thick southern drawl. by those I am of course referring to
I might be biased to find the story of Brayden and Joe particularly touching, but I think it illustrates the basic humanity of Joe Biden.
Much like that story that circulated of Joe helping out that homeless guy. Joe cares about his fellow Americans. All of us making our way through the dark in it together.
This shouldn't be a defining difference in candidates. I think that most of our Presidents even those inept or otherwise venal gave some fucks for their fellow Americans. Trump only gives a shit about his fans, his party, his tribe. His narcissism makes him a perfect fascist with ever narrowing circles of fans with ultimately everyone being expendable.
So this is a rare choice in my opinion and I hope that we the American people make the correct one.

I like that strategy. Dump is vulnerable to button pushing. Hopefully surrogates can push the ones that elicit the most racist, most xenophobic, most misogynistic, dictatory things possible. Yee hawww!

I feel ya and I really don't want to discount your feelings or the positive impact that has had on many others such as yourself, but to paraphrase Cornel West "...just don't forget that a lot of people with speech impediments died under Obama/Biden's drone strikes and had their lives ruined (or ended) by the over-policing and mass incarceration Biden architected."
To be clear, Dr. West doesn't oppose Biden's candidacy and emphatically endorses him over Trump, he just frames it as: "We're going to help push Biden over the line in November as part of an anti-fascist coalition, but we're not gonna lie about the man. He isn't now and never was a freedom fighter."
I still consider Biden a segregationist as he fought to oppose desegregation.
There is no doubt that Biden has long been part of our white supremacy problem, but there are substantive differences between Biden and Trump and current political realities have Biden tacking leftward.
I prefer to focus on the positive of which there is a lot.

It's scary as hell, and I hope he's just wrong and crazy, but it doesn't sound implausible at all. Plus, Palast usually isn't wrong or crazy, at least on this subject.
I will listen to this as I do like Palast's work on American elections. (best democracy money can buy is real fucking good)
"The goal of this chaos is to create a state of emergency where the 2020 presidential election is per the Constitution decided by the House of Representatives -- where the Republicans will put Trump back in the White House."
but how does this work, we have the House of Representatives?
edited to add: durr, it's one state one vote nonsense.
Too bad the Lincoln Project ads are only seen by Twitter liberals who donate money which is spent on Lincoln Project board members and their associated companies instead of ad buys and voter contact.
Under increased scrutiny, they have made some large ad buys recently, but their production costs and "operating expenditures" remain through the roof. And they use subcontractor relationships to hide a lot of these payments. pic.twitter.com/xV276bPB8h
If you're inclined to donate this election cycle, please do it where it will do more tangible good. These people are using slickly produced Twitter ads to divert resources for their own enrichment. They have no respect for you or your money. https://t.co/zTpT7A7hD0
This quote from Michael Parenti's talk about the assassination of Julius Caesar really resonated with me after watching a few clips of the RNC this week:
Quote:
…in short when their class interests were at stake, the Senators, like elites today, had no trouble choosing political dictatorship over the palest traces of economic democracy. No more than did the Chilean elites in Chile have any trouble siding with Pinochet, even if it meant an end to their own oligarchic rule. When push came to shove their vast holdings meant more to them than their "republican principles"; their fortunes meant more to them than even their power as long as they knew that state power was in the hands of someone who was protecting their fortunes.

The ABC News-Ipsos poll determined that 31 percent of respondents had a favorable view of Trump after the GOP convention, representing no significant change from his 32 percent favorability a week prior after the Democratic National Convention.

Truly depresses me, thinking back to all the times people online and off told me my Nazi comparisons were overblown in 2016 and 2017 as if I don't have a degree in history. I wrote more than one university paper focused on WWII. Seems like a great time to pull this cartoon out. pic.twitter.com/bUtyBb0Z59

so that's cool. Trump's fans are hardcore, but most people's minds are made up. No bump makes me happy.
especially since Biden got a bump after the DNC.
What I find baffling is, while overall Trump support is down, after the convention black support went up.
He did a great job of picking cherries and plausible sounding subterfuge to make himself out as the best friend blacks ever had. Of course you have to suspend all memories of the expressly racist history of all the things he's said and done. Some people have short memories or weren't paying attention until the convention? Just suggestible, maybe? I agree it's weird, but, Dump is an accomplished con man.

Biden gave a speech in Pittsburgh today. He issued the absolutely needed retort to Dump's scare whitey bullshit from the RNC convention. He asked the completely obvious and not in the least rhetorical question, "Who was President for the past 3.75 years here, buddy? You or me?" What kind of idiot let's Dump get away with blaming protests and violence or w/e that happens now on Biden? How gullible do you need to be?
