I’ve been feeling a bit more creative and have been working on specing out a backpack design I saw once in a shop to make my own version of it. It’s an Armadillo back packpack and I want a legit functional version, that fits a camelback, a lighting system, phone compatible battery pack, and is actually armored. Which has meant looking at armored plates. A proper metal armor plate is about 8lbs, and can stop most bullets, as well as penetration from falling glass, iron or other debris that might be thrown around in an earthquake. If my bag is going to look like a protective back shell, it’s going to be one!

So why am I posting this here?
One of the popular plate makers is AR5*0 and oh dear god, I didn’t even put anything in my cart, I just went to their site, and now everything even remotely connected to my google ad cookies/account wants to push AR5*0 for multiple days now, to the point I’m worried google might see me saying their name and lengthen this punishment!

This in fact is the bag I saw, but in white. I will, one day, have my own.

Gah, I beat all the minigames except that damned "water dance" one. My brain stubbornly refuses to correlate the arrow keys with the 4 side-by-side rows, even though the sprites or whatever are the corresponding arrows. So I may never see the cute finale other than on YouTube or something. But I'm still trying to "earn" it for reasons unclear.

So I haven’t signed into Google stuff on my phone browser and occasionally watch some YouTube on it. This time I scrolled down at the suggestions and most of them had to do with the music video I just watched as well as some new movie soundtrack stuff. Peppered in are some Fox news vids ripping Trudeau (one with Ben Shapiro) or “we’re winning”, and one Dan Bongino thing about Trudeau. Nothing else but Fox and far right stuff.

Oh man, do I have a beef with the youtube algorithm. Just because I clicked on a specific 12 year old video does not mean I’m interested in any random 12 year old video on youtube! I have to burn every old video I watch immediately after or else it’s welcome to youtube circa 2010.

Google Stadia never mattered, and it never had a chance - The Verge

You sure did a lot of reporting over the years about a product that "never mattered", The Verge.

Anyway, Stadia is done. Nobody is surprised. We wanted it to work, but the writing has been on the wall for a while. For me, at least since launch. For others, probably even earlier than that. Obviously I couldn't talk about it before, but now I can.

There was a whole lot of leadership making huge promises, and engineers saying "this is not tenable", and then those same engineers getting burnt out and leaving.

The timing sure is great for how it aligns with the dates on my resume. "It was time for me to move on" suddenly sounds more prescient than flakey and self-indulgent.

I pre-ordered the controller and paid the subscription fee for quite some time, but never played it once. For no reason other than I haven't gamed much at all in recent years.
