Lisa and I went to see Lost Highway yesterday. And since I can't watch ANY David Lynch movie without thinking of the Dean-Stockwell-sings- In- Dreams-to-Dennis-Hopper scene from Blue Velvet:
Thinking of that scene has the collateral benefit of reminding me that Roy Orbison was a music god, which in turn leads to a couple of happy hours listening to ol' Roy's tunes.

Went looking for information on why Colin Edwin, Porcupine Tree's long-time bassist, has no involvement with the group's new album or upcoming tour. Found out that since 2016 he's been a member of O.R.k., a band featuring Edwin, drummer Pat Mastelotto of King Crimson/Mr. Mister fame, Italian guitarist Carmelo Pipitone, and Italian singer/producer/film score composer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari. This stuff's pretty tasty.

From 1972 to 1976 the classic lineup of Tangerine Dream (Edgar Froese, Chris Franke, Peter Baumann) pumped out the albums Zeit, Atem, Phaedra, Rubycon and Stratosfear. Few bands ever can claim so spectacular a run.

This very night, many an unknown band will play in many a shithole bar doing kickass covers of classic tunes. So it was with these guys back in February, covering a couple of songs from Black Sabbath's very first album.
No big, except that the guitarist/singer of this band is slated to be a touring member of Porcupine Tree come Fall.

Today's been a listen-to-great-drummers day, and that'll always lead eventually to the late, great Jeff Porcaro, who died of a heart attack at the ripe old age of 38. (Many know about the Toto stuff, but god DAMN, check out that with other artists list!) And Porcaro led to this old favorite that I hadn't thought about in decades.

1: Things I heard when I was 14
2: Stuff that I link to an emotion because it was in a movie or TV show.
My daughter unexpectedly played Little Lies by Fleetwood Mac to me the other day out of the blue and I for a second there I though the nostalgia would be fatal.

This popped up on the Y00t00bsz today and brought back some pleasant memories. These guys' previous album had something like four mammoth megahits, but The Seeds of Love is an absolute pop masterpiece. You can fuck things up royally by taking three years to produce an eight-song album in the hope of getting everything "just right," but no such fuckery happened here.
