Damn. The Li'l Puppet grew up with a gorgeous, coffee-table-sized hardcover version of The Bear*, and wanted to read it together countless times, both before and after she could read. I didn't know anything about the author, but I can replay that entire, not-so-short book in my head (including all the wordless panels).
*linked the paperback, 'cause the hardback page has what looks like the cover for a completely different book of the same name.

I hope Gorbachev was working on a tell-all memoir when he died that tells everyone to suck it.
I was a Russian studies major when he came to power - he visited MN and the whole place when insane - and it seemed like he was going to make some major changes. And then the whole house of cards came down.
