Our lawnmower stopped working yesterday. It had been running rough for a few weeks now and I was considering just dumping it and getting a new one. Then I started watching youtube videos. Probably watched about 2 hours in total on various problems and possible fixes. Ended up taking apart the carburettor piece by piece, cleaning it all and putting it all back together. Also took out the spark plug and tested it. In the end, there was 1 video where a guy took apart the carb and reassembled it. Afterwards he shook it and said "you should hear that pin inside bouncing up and down". Well that pin was stuck inside mine, didn't even know it could come out, let alone move about. So I managed to pry it out, clean it and put it all back together. Works better than it has in months It's still a shite lawnmower, but it's one that works again now :D And I have a MUCH better understanding of lawnmower parts and how they come off

I recently got an electric mower and gave the old one away. It was 13 yrs old and needed work. The new one is quieter, doesn't need gas, doesn't mess up on slopes and is much lighter. Only downside is it won't run as nearly as long as the gas mower did.

I haven't gained any weight during the bleak covid months where I ate my weight in butter tarts.

I, on the other hand, have gained isolation weight. Over the past 3-4 months I have, however, also managed to lose it and then some that I had gained in the previous past 5 years, about 10 kg total. Another 6 or so to go to my target.

Then for the hard part, keeping it off.

I have gained quite a bit of weight in the last 15 months. That's my petty accomplishment. :inflate:

I began organising my many stashes of USB Cables and Power Cables and Other Data Cables.
I found a quantity of Type C male to Type A female adapters which saves me having to make an arduous trip to a web site to order some for my new laptop which has only one Type A socket.

+1 for the pun, corny and unoriginal though it is

+1 because I have in fact done all of the Duolingo course, and they have nothing left to teach me. It's just revision and maintaining the streak.

-1 because it did not even include possessives. Students wouldn't know how to say things like "I am looking for my dog" (Minš etsin koiraani) only "I am looking for a dog" (Minš etsin koiraa).

Balance: +1 [thanks]

I have a stand-up butane torch that stopped clicking when lighting so I pulled the clicker out of a cheap stick lighter and replaced it, this is the second time for this torch, so I presume it warps them when it clicks.

Itís amazing that no matter what the price most lighters that ignite with an electric spark have the same tiny few cent plastic piezo piece in them (that contains an adorable little hammer) and the quality of the lighter itself is based partly on how long it can protect the cheap piece from breaking.

Also, he he fire!

Haha well there certainly is that!

But recent abuse has been related to actually setting things on fire, while recording in pitiful but still slow mo 240fps on my phone.

Since these are short bursts I get like 12 frames for the whole woosh, and if you pick out just the right one it even looks scary! This is in part because Fire! and part as study/experiment for maybe teaching people about how to play with fire correctly and not burn down their house, as a group of teens did a few months ago while playing flaming tennis ball.

The ‘dab rig’ did however produce the late night thought of the holders of the 4-Elemental rings of fire, Air, Fuel, Heat and Reaction coming together to form Captain-Fire! Who proceeds to burn everything down.

If lit from the front end these wouldn’t be so violent.

We upgraded from cable to fiber this past Friday/Saturday. The installer who came Friday told me that we shouldn't be running two networks in tandem (one from the router built in to the AT&T modem, one a TP-Link (Deco) mesh system)--that they would interfere with each other. Instead, we should just disable the AT&T router. He couldn't finish the installation, though--we needed someone to come out Saturday to run a new line to the house--so he left without telling me how to disable the AT&T router. (it's not a simple switch-the only button on the new fiber modem is a reset button.) Today, I did a Google search for how to disable the router, found the answer (which involved going to a specified IP address and adjusting the configuration of the modem to disable the wifi channels), and disabled the wifi. Installed two additional Deco pods, and there is no more interference.
