Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
I’m honestly so heartily sick of every new Star Wars film and series shoehorning as many fan-beloved elements into the plot that it possibly can, whether it makes sense or not (more often not), that I assume everything SW-related is shit unless advised otherwise.

Agreed. Which is why I like Andor so much. A real breath of fresh air. They are at episode 8 and no one has used the Force (or a light saber).

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
I stopped watching the first episode about 2/3 in, because it was so damned boring. Does the story pick up at least?

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
I can't say yes. I'm sucked in, somehow, by it.
There was actual action a couple episodes back. But otherwise it's still just about How To Start A Rebellion.

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
Finally got around to watching Andor and I really enjoyed it. It was slow going at first, but became really interesting and hooked me in hard. I think I watched it all over 3 days. I'm eagerly anticipating the second season now.

Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy previously revealed that Andor season 2 is expected to be released in August 2024.

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
I liked Andor as well. Luna does a very fine job with the character.
Though it seems that options for more seasons might be limited. I mean the character already has his ending, so there is a finite timeline for him, already.
Another year, hmm?
Hopefully, by then, I still remember that I wanted to see that.

Yes, the second and final season will cover the next four years of Cassian's life up until Rogue One.
If they ever finish it.

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
We've been watching Ahsoka and catching up with the newest episodes the last few nights.
The incel-edgelord-crybabies must be going apeshit over this one
Most the main characters are women and some of them aren't even white
I would watch Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in pretty much anything, so it wasn't hard to get into this one. I'm enjoying it and looking forward to seeing how it ends. It's a little clanky at times, but overall I would say its on par with Boba Fett or Obi-Wan and not quite as good as Andor or The Mandalorian.
Anyone else watching it?

Not yet. But it's on the list for my next Star Wars binge.

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
I am liking Ahsoka a little more with each episode the past few weeks. That said, I can tell that I am "supposed" to feel certain ways about certain scenes, and I don't feel like they want me to because I naughtily haven't watched all 75 or whatever seasons of the animated stuff that they expect me to. Disney even helpfully gave me an extensive list of prep to do before attempting to watch their show.
Unfortunately Disney Star Wars appears to generally have the same strategy as Disney Marvelverse, where it is on the viewer to Watch All The Things to be clued in rather than have the creators do the work and make sure that one can easily drop into any show without doing extensive homework. The more they make, the more behind the casual viewer will be.
But yeah, my list of the SW live action shows by enjoyability is similar to many others':
Andor
The Mandalorian
.
Ahsoka
.
.
Obi-Wan
The Book of Boba Fett

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
I've watched all the Clones Wars series and the Rebels series. And yes. It's important (not imperative, but also recommended) to have at least a working knowledge. Otherwise the motivation of the characters feels more like writer fiat. There is also definitely some .. hinkness? I don't know. With the dialog and the light, low key acting happening between characters. To me it's like they're doing in-costume line reading.

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
Star Wars in general seems to expect the viewer to accept inter-character relationships as presented, whether they have any foundation or not. E.g., Finn and what's-his-name meeting for the first time in The Force Awakens, and suddenly they're best friends (that's just one of the most egregious examples). I think it's primarily due to an obsessive focus on plot and characterizations, to the detriment of pretty much everything else. The writers seem to want to move the pieces/characters around the board, without much effort put into how they relate to one another.

Re: Is this Star Wars nerd-rage worthy?
Well, a bit of a technical issue has landed us in drydock for a few days.
So, I took a peek at Ahsoka. Hmmm.
So everybody has a somewhat shared history, and a lot of assumed knowledge.
Very promising. I think after 2nd episode, it looks like all the pieces are in place. I'm sure they've left a surprise or two.

Star Wars has history of breaking its own canon but his was especially egregious, everyone knows Andorians are blue.
