Allie Brosh (the lady who does Hyperbole and a Half) has a new book out! And...it's backordered.

Re: Miscellany
We've have a bunch of these little black beetle looking things around over the summer, and they are now all over the outside walls of the garage having weird gross sex and they will not stop even after I tell them to.
They attach together, ass to ass, then the larger and differently colored one will start running forward while the smaller, plainer one keeps pace going backward. And sometimes, when they stand still for a while, a third or even FOURTH bug will climb up on top of them.
I looked up pretty close a couple times and saw what I suspect are some genitals, but I couldn't tell whose they were.
So gross.
Edit: Isabella Rossellini made some movies about this sort of thing. I should go watch them again to become more tolerant maybe.

Falling back on the days of the alt.newsgroups, all I can think to respond is, "GIFs! GIFs!"

Re: Miscellany
I thought about trying to get documentation, but with the size of these things and my equipment and skills, there is no way you'd be able to make out anything.
I did go back and look around at those Isabella Rossellini things and checked out a few to see if I could find a dramatic reenactment, but I didn't see that.
I did find out that she did a whole bunch of new ones, too, including this one on Noah's Ark, which is pretty great:
More importantly, where did you live on Usenet? I mostly posted on alt.religion.kibology and alt.folklore.urban

Perkele (Finnish: [ˈperkele] ( listen)) means evil spirit or variation of words "god damn" in Finnish and is a popular Finnish profanity. It is most likely the most internationally known Finnish curse word.

I did not know that.

Re: Miscellany
Translated from Hungarian Film Archive page:
Quote:
The Five Minute Murder is the most popular animated genre of the sixties, one of the most absurd pieces of intellectual cartooning. In his theme, [Nepp] grotesquely twists the theme of existentialist alienation that dominates modern philosophy and modernist film of the sixties. One of the film's most striking gestures, which links it to modernism, is metaphorical self-reflection: in the film's frame story, a director directs the film premiere, which is immediately executed by outraged viewers after the screening.
Mocking genre films (crime films, horror) based on the thematization and depiction of violence in its genre. The morbid genre parody is made utterly absurd by the chain-like, variation-like serial narrative on the subject, as it sequences only violent scenes from these films without any narrative causality and dramaturgical suspense. The scenes, which are more traditional, imaginable in reality, and unimaginable in animated films, are connected only through the character who becomes the next victim from the killer.

Fortunately I didn't understand that description so I went to the page to watch the video. I still don't understand but I'm glad I saw it.
