I've been exposed 4 times in the last two weeks (That I know of) all various family members who have ignored most of the advice from medical personnel.
So far, nary a symptom.
While at the hospital yesterday, in the ER, there was an active Covid infection case in the room next door.

We have quarantined ourselves at home for the next two weeks. I still have faith in my own immune system, but, why take a chance on sharing it.

Thing I continue to be very curious about:

Is there any point at which any of these people will say "it seems that literally zero of these predictions have actually come true, maybe they are stupid"?

The local conspiracy nut in town, here, will never.
He just skips along from one wingnut scheme to the next. Never even notices when the logic fails on one notion.
He's like a Johnny Appleseed of Whacky Notions.

I got one of those. I just keep a list, whenever they have a new crackpot idea I recite the list.

It's like an addiction, they desperately need to be right, once, finally, somehow. It's a lot like the old lotto scam victim I know, the next load of gift cards and finally payout. Sometime. Maybe next time. He'll show us all.

I was super impressed by the one who went to hide in a cave because the 10th planet was going to hit earth and end civilization.

And he concluded that, since all the math was correct, and he definitely made no mistakes on any of that, the ONLY remaining option was, obviously, that we are on a flat plane not a sphere, and actually Antarctica is the Great Ice Wall between us and the rest of a much larger square flat surface.

If you catch a cold and you cannot taste or smell as well as usual should you test for Covid? I’m pretty sure it’s the common cold, it doesn’t feel like a variant of a flu virus. But I haven’t had the common cold in , gee, can’t remember the last time.

Well, I don't recall losing sense of taste or smell with a cold, or even the Flu.
Just sayin'

Reduced smell and taste from colds does happen due to congestion and if it's common for you then I would worry less, although I probably would also test just to be sure.

I've not experienced the smell loss but from what I gather it's like suddenly everything smells and tastes like cardboard, yet you're not at a vegan restaurant.

LOL! Thanks Ari! I remember having a bad cold when I was a kid and my parents both smoked. I HATED the smell of smoke but after a week of having the cold, when I could smell the cigarette smoke I remember that was the first and only time I appreciated the smell because I knew the cold was coming to an end.

I think if you're heavily congested and can't smell, it's normal, but if you aren't congested and you can't smell, that might well be worth testing for.

Probably OK, then, but, it never hurts to be sure with this stuff going around.

Of course, being certified Old Farts, we manage to get a bunch of free test kits by mail. A good thing, since it's a two hour round trip to the nearest free test site.

That’s a bummer. I’m gonna call my doctor and get an appointment. I have tested negative this route before but also positive once. And I had a horrible case of it.

I think in addition to Covid, the strains of cold that are going around right now are unusually rough. Maybe because there was generally less exposure for 2020-22 and now we are soft. I and several of my co-workers have had ass-kicking colds in the past couple of months. I was sure mine was Covid but never tested positive.

I rode the covid bus last month and tested first negative, two days later positive. Gotta be pretty thorough with the nasal swab no matter how much it makes you sneeze.
