And I looked, and beheld a pale plane, and the registration that was painted on him was D-EATH.

HALP, this has been bothering me.

There is a sculpture that was pretty popular in replicas in I think the 60s, of a caveman guy building a fire. The replicas are always black, and it's a little impressionistic, I think the original was ceramic, but I guess it could have been stone. I haven't seen one up close in years. The guy is hunched over and is wearing some kind of small cape or something.

My parents had one when I was a kid, and I was mesmerized by how stupid the guy looked. He just looked like a big doughy white guy. I think he even had a haircut. In no way did this guy discover how to make fire.

Anyway, I saw one in a house listing like a week or two ago, but now I can't find it again so I don't have a picture.

Well, fortunately, I thought to ask my sister, who, unlike you scrubs, knows things.

It's Fire: Small Blacksmith Crouching by Renoir.

Which: I should have known that if I'm trying to identify some terrible art, I should start by searching Renoir [keyword].

Speaking of Delta Echo Alfa Tango Hotel Planes.

My favorite is either the bounce-o-copter or the Lifting lifters, as demonstrated by the inventor who has no worry getting his dangling sleeves awfully close to.

Which tread is the Internet of Shit thread? Besides the Singularity thread.

In the meantime, here, have this shit:

Home Depot plans to foil shoplifters with power tools that won't work if they're stolen

Quote:
The home-improvement chain is unveiling power tools that won't work unless they're properly scanned and activated at the register via Bluetooth technology. If a thief managed to smuggle a power drill out of the store without paying, the drill simply wouldn't turn on.
Okay, so not exactly Internet of Shit, but still shit.

Quote:
Organized retail crime costs retailers an average of $719,548 per $1 billion in sales, a 2020 survey from the National Retail Federation found — a nearly 60% increase from 2015.
Yeah, but still only like 0.07%

I don't trust DRM. I wouldn't want to pay for anything with a mechanism that can lock me out at some company's whim. How does it work exactly? Could it just reset itself to lockout mode, and if so, how would you get it to work again?

It just seems to me like every other DRM. People whose job it is to break it will figure out how pretty quickly, and regular paying customers will be the only ones really affected by it.

Doing a bit of searching there appears to be a Milwaukee Tool brand air-tag style product thats been around since 2015 called the One-Key, and I bet someone got a huge bonus convincing home depot they need it.

One-Key is a bluetooth enabled tracking app that gives the user additional customization of their tools but also inventory tracking. Marketed to stop job site losses, the tracking tab pings any bluetooth enabled phone with the One-Key app to update its status and can be set to lock out based on time or getting too far away from the area, and tracks the tools location similar to air-tags.

My complete guess is that all of these Power Tools will be registered under the Home Depot Unsold account set to all locked and when purchased buying them transfers them out of this account, resetting them to normal settings.

I'm doing the staycation thing this week and went to a coffee shop to hang out and read. I bought a cookie without realizing it was vegan and without realizing it cost more than my coffee drink. And it was pretty lame. Like the coffee shop.
