UK mortality data from Office of National Statistics. Impact is pretty clear (and I wonder how high it would have got without a lockdown?).

The news paper got the information from the government regulated scientific medical community.

According to the mainstream it would have spiked and then had a dramatic drop off.
That was the whole point to 'flattening the curve'. Stretching out the problem to relive the medical infrastructure.

Why would it have a 'dramatic' drop off?
Crude epidemic models follow a logistic curve. I've heard logistic functions called many things (some not so pleasant when they're under an integral), but dramatic has never been one of them.

You could not feel more superfluous in terms of making fun of the president because the Trump administration is an 18-wheeler full of monkeys and PCP that has crashed into a train full of diarrhea, and so there’s diarrhea-covered monkeys on PCP running around and everyone is just watching it like, "Oh my god!" And then you as a comedian walk up and go, "Hey, do you want to hear a joke I wrote about this?" And they’re like, "No, I’m good. There’s nine jokes in my head. You can go take a break. This is playing itself out perfectly."

Because that was the point of flattening the curve, to spread out the medical needs of a population over time, instead of the medical system consuming those needs in a short period.
Had there been no flattening of the curve, all the cases would have inundated the medical services. This is the story. The story told was there would have been a dramatic drop off, but lots would die because medical resources became scarce.
Its the same amount of emergency care, either now, or over time.
Spread the resources over time, this was the gimmick. Thus the medical services were not overwhelmed.
What is happening now has nothing to do with flatting the curve. You were lied to, just now, but you still want to believe. Just now, right after you were lied to.

Re: Winnie the Flu
I mean it makes a lot of sense for countries to close their borders to Americans, if they don't want Trump murdering them like he has murdered 100,000 Americans so far.
Also, has really never had a flat earther with a thread? Did I miss it or have I forgotten it?

Re: Winnie the Flu
Jerome doesn't really count because his commitment is superficial. I kind of want a true believer willing to go the distance.
(I think this, combined with how intimidated he was by her intellect, is one reason Jerome did not become the next Mr. peacegirl )
ETA: Actually that is not bad. I don't pay attention to that thread. Pleasantly surprised, recalls some of his better birther moments.

So you're explaining nature by appealing to the goals of our actions? Then you talk about 'flattening the curve', but there's no dramatic fall in such a scenario (a gently rolling hill is much less dramatic than a mountain!).
You're really all over the place here.
You're right that governments are no longer just trying to flatten the curve, but instead contain the virus like South Korea - the death toll would have been politically suicidal even if there were ethical justifications for that course.

We're sorry. The Salt Lake Tribune's web site, sltrib.com, is unavailable in the European Union. We are working with lawyers on compliance with the European Union's General Data Protection Requirements, and we expect to sltrib.com to be available once that is done. Thank you for your patience.

Thinks ... should I get a vpn to bypass all these stupid rules? Or should I continue to ignore such worthless sites?
I mean the GDPR has been in force for 2 years (and 2 days) - and was adopted 2 years before that - you fuckers have not been "working with lawyers" all that time. More to the point, the California Consumer Privacy Act came into force 5 months ago and is substantially the same. Is this Salt Lake Tribune rag accessible in California? If so, no reason not to make it accessible in the Eu. Y'all are just lazy and parochial.
I mean ... was there anything interesting in the article?
