Man I had almost forgotten about, gives the most minimal plausible excuse to not being a jerk I’ve heard in awhile, a highly skilled actress who reads large amounts of english professionally for film and screen confused the words ‘Me’ and ‘You’ because she’s dumb and foreign and that is why I’m not a Tool.
Interesting thread of train burglaries targeting USPS and Amazon packages:
Keep hearing of train burglaries in LA on the scanner so went to #LincolnHeights to see it all. And… there’s looted packages as far as the eye can see. Amazon packages, @UPS boxes, unused Covid tests, fishing lures, epi pens. Cargo containers left busted open on trains. @CBSLApic.twitter.com/JvNF4UVy2K

Town near Harrisgurg won't seat their elected auditor. Thrad
This is a short story about the lengths the political establishment will go to to evade accountability and oversight.
I ran a write-in campaign (as a Libertarian) for Auditor of Silver Spring Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania this past November. [Part 1 of 19] pic.twitter.com/vnjUZM8OOD
I think I am, too. It's one role where being openly antagonistic to the government while also being part of the government actually kind of makes some sense.
Now it's time for my auditor story. I'm going to use the real names of organizations, but not people, so this should probably be safe, plus nobody links to us.
I used to work for the University of Georgia (before I was even a student there) in an administrative role, for the College of Education. My department focused on adult education and literacy, and we worked in partnership with the Technical College System of Georgia. At the University, we focused on the education and career development of the TCSG educators themselves, who in turn taught classes to adults, things like remedial reading and math for GED prep.
We were all state employees, but part of my job was to oversee a federal grant program for the TCSG to help immigrants on their path to citizenship. Classes like English as a Second Language, civics, shit like that. I had been a Fed for years before that, so I was totally comfortable dealing with all the paperwork and red-tape involved in managing the program.
So we're preparing to go to Macon for an annual meeting and review, and I'm reading through the binder with all the details about the grant, and what we're expected to accomplish during the review, and I was like "oh, this is an audit." (I also had an accounting background before I was a Fed, so this whole thing really was a perfect storm of shit that was already in my wheelhouse.) But the boss-mans were like "oh no! Don't say audit. That word scares people." And I'm like okay, I won't use the word, but that's definitely what we are going to do.
Meanwhile, during the prior year, the state of Georgia had passed House Bill Something-or-other, which was a racist piece of legislation that required people to be documented/"legal" in order to receive public benefits like education. Unsurprisingly, this led to severely reduced demand in the immigration classes, so they cancelled them.
So I'm there doing my non-audit, and I'm like, "Hey, you're not teaching any of the classes you're required to teach for this grant." And they're like "Well we can't teach them if we don't have any students eligible to sign up for them." I get it, that's totally fair. The law is the law. But you don't get to still keep the money. So fucking obviously.
You don't get it both ways, sweetie pie. Bless your heart. Call it an audit or not, y'all racists fucking failed it, and you don't get to pocket the tax money from all the less-racist states. Fuck off.
BREAKING: Pennsylvania Supreme Court GRANTS our petition to take over congressional redistricting process. A big win for voters of Pennsylvania and fair districting.
“It’s time to stop,” Champ said. “All the individual truckers who are still in downtown Ottawa, still causing mayhem, still causing chaos, still causing disruption to the residents and businesses of downtown Ottawa, it’s time to go home. And when you get home, I strongly recommend you get independent legal advice. Don’t listen anymore to the organizers. You’ve been led down a path that, unfortunately, is going to cause you some serious financial consequences.”
