Took me a beat or two before I realized you weren't saying that, after getting your fingerprints all over the dishes and jars, you wiped them all off.

Re: What's up with you?
Ha, yeah certain surfactants in dish soaps can soften the skin/fat cells allowing the upper layer to be scrubbed away. They're also the surfactants that do an excellent job cleaning and dish soap is one place where the 'natural' or even generic just doesn't match the name brand of Dawn.
Your fingerprints are shaped by how the underlying basal cells were originally smooshed from a larger surface area into smaller finger pads, I know they grow back because I've removed them before, just only on a couple fingers not all of them at the same time.

I'm going to El Salvador next week! I'm going observe their presidential elections - which will probably be crooked as hell - and enjoy some above zero temps

While you're gone, Elections Canada will be redrawing your districts throughout the USA. Expect a lot of square shapes.

Re: What's up with you?
I have two grown daughters. I started posting on the web when Shelby was just a babe. Hence my screen name. I couldn’t be prouder of them both. Shelby is the youth developer of the programs at our local Salvation Army.
Sammy is finishing her last year in Education at UNL which has a superb education program. Sammy is my little liberal. I’ve called her that since she was 10. We would argue about politics when she was that young. But I have seen her working with kids, and particularly disadvantaged kids, and she is nothing short of amazing.
So what’s up with me is I have two wonderful daughters that I could not be more proud of even if I tried.

Re: What's up with you?
I now have Invisalign. I had braces when I was a teen, but my teeth have drifted a bit, and it's been causing me some problems - I recently knocked off a crown that should have been good for years.
It's still taking a bit of getting used to, and my mouth is still kind oftorn up from the procedure, but it's 75% better than braces.

The Angel of Death can kiss my ass
I still draw breath, I haven't passed
No matter what Hell I endure
I rise right up and ask for more
Maybe I'm some kind of kitty
Nine lives lived, no it's not pretty
The Angel of Death can flap its wings
But one of these days I hope to sing
Yo, I cheated death again
So, hey, what's been happenin'

Re: What's up with you?
Well, I now have a new, and different brace that manages to keep knee and ankle relatively immobile, and I can put weight on the leg without bending things that should not bend.
So, I can hobble around the house, and, using the Mrs.' old walker, even out to the garage. Getting in and out of the RV is not really happening, so we're stuck at the farm.
The weather is being somewhat cooperative, though.
The Good news is, if it does snow, I have doctor's orders to NOT shovel snow. The kid across the road has agreed to come over and push snow around - for a nominal fee, of course - should we need it.
The Trip to Mardi Gras has been cancelled.

Re: What's up with you?
Wearing the Invisalign appliances fucked up my evening routine, and I realized I hadn't taken my medication in a week. It's not going to kill me (or honestly even do me much harm), but it's not great. Once I noticed, it was easy to resolve, and I'm back on my meds as of last night.

Re: What's up with you?
Well, I learned a relatively valuable lesson.
If you want to season new or re-furbished Cast Iron pans, Don't use Crisco.
Now, I actually kinda knew that, already, having been a short-order cook for a number of years. What I actually learned was that the Stepdaughter didn't already know that.
Had, she asked me, I could have told her that the Peanut Oil we have in the basement is a much better alternative.
I learned that Smoking Crisco is very not good for you if you have a tendency towards asthma symptoms.
I reckon we will go down to the diner for supper tonight.

Re: What's up with you?
Speaking of Invisalign, I got contact lenses. (That kind of tracks, yeah?)
I tried using soft contacts for a little while about 20 years ago, but I couldn't get into the maintenance routine. But now I'm old and I can't fucking see so I went to the eye doc and got some samples of daily disposables to try out for a week.
It's pretty great so far. The first day I was like noooooooo but after 3 days I feel pretty used to them and I can kind of mostly see. And when I saw me in the selfie cam at the beach I was like "hey, that's my face!"

Re: What's up with you?
Well, the brace is gone, and now I have some sort of inflatable wrapping with a hinged thingy that let's me do amazing things like get up and down stairs, and in and out of cars with some level of comfort.
I actually drove home from the clinic.

Re: What's up with you?
Drove in to the Big Town, and met eldest Grandkid to go see the Dune 2 flick. None of the women folk or young'ns were interested.
My first venture to an IMAX, too.
We got second row middle seats.
Holy Shit!
Being up close like that is a bit mindbending.
As for the film, Finally, after nearly 60 years, somebody got it right.
I read Dune within weeks of it's publishing, and knew then that this story had the makings of a great Sci-Fi Flick.
When it was announced that Lynch and company were making Dune, I was excited. I awaited its release and was in line the very first day.
Only to be made completely flabbergasted at how fucking AWEFUL that movie turned out to be.
David Lynch has been on my black list for 40 years.
But, now, that is all in the past. Denis Villeneuve and his crew rescued the story.
During the wait for the sequel, I went back to read Dune, again, and then followed through, reading all eight of Herbert's Dune series books. I confess that I often paused during the readings to ponder: "Where fuck is he GOING with this?"
Well, I can settle down, now. 'Tis done. Yes, there were some oddball sequences, but nothing that really ruined the whole project. And the film stuck pretty close to Herbert's vision.
I will be interested in how far they take the Dune series, now, and if the follow up with sequels, I probably will go to watch, but hardly with the enthusiasm once enjoyed.
OK, enough of that. Back to real life as we know it.

Re: What's up with you?
I loved Dune part 1, and I really want to see Dune part 2, but have yet to make a plan to go.
On another subject, I have been drinking tea as a caffeine source at work after a stomach churning reaction to black coffee at home, and the coffee at work is not as pleasant as what I make. I figured I'd try again today, and no luck — still felt a bit queasy after a cup of black coffee, so I loaded the next cup up with (soy) milk, and that helped. Back to tea for the moment.

Tea hits different, don't it? I find it effective for the after dinner doldrum.
