Default This weekend's road trip

What do you have planned for the coming weekend?

I found the perfect road trip for this coming weekend.

Las Cruces, NM is holding the first ever "Pat Garret Heritage Festival" to honor Sheriff Pat Garret, the former, now deceased Sheriff of Lincoln County, most notable for gunning down Billy the Kid in 1881.

We will, of course, stop in Fort Sumner, NM to visit the grave of the aforementioned outlaw, who was known as William Bonney.

There are rumors though, that Mr Bonney was never actually killed by Garret, and there was a fellow who showed up in 1948, name Brushy Bill Roberts who claimed to be the former "Billy"

Will be interesting to see how some of that plays out in the festivites at Las Cruces.

Whatever, it should prove to be a fine distraction from all the focus on the Superbowl.

As a kid we used to go skiing on super bowl weekend, cause even at the resort the game would be on so you got your choice of sitting in the cabin watching people shout at the TV or ski on open slopes.

Part of this weekend I'm stage handing for a local ballet group, sadly it's not the theater with the tall catwalk.

For the second weekend in March, I highly recommend making it to Nederland for Frozen Dead Guy Days

The party honors Bredo Morstol, who died in 1989.
In '93, his grandson, Trygve Bauge and his Mother Aud had the old guy's body transported to Nederland where his Frozen corpse has best resting, waiting for the day scientist have figured out a way to thaw him out, and repair what ails him, and send him back into the world.

Well, howdy friends and neighbors.
It's once again time for "The Weekend's Road Trip"

A while back I mentioned Frozen Dead Guy Days.

The festivities fell victim to the COVID-19 hysteria for a year or so, but guess what!
They're BACK!

This year the Frozen Dead Guy Days festivities will be relocated to Estes Park, Colorado.

Frozen Dead Guy, and St Patty's Day - Read all about it.
