He played in a competition in a sports centre I lived near. His car parked outside had the number plates (licence plate in USA) 1 PRO (for professional). I think it was a Rolls Royce, but my memory is not so certain of that.

Donahue was a genuine badass. He was one of the very, very few mainstream types who opposed the Iraq War from the jump. In those jacked up "you're either with us or you're with the terrorists" days, his opposition was so fervent that it got him shitcanned from MSNBC. It's one thing for some starry-eyed hippie to oppose involvement in a foreign war and quite another for the guy with the most popular show on a network to get fired for refusing to toe the company line.
Also, piece of shit Chris Matthews reportedly hated his guts, which is another point in Donahue's favor.
The talk show stuff was pretty damned good as well. Donahue was quite good at stringing up evil assholes with their own words.
