Did they also clean it up for you?
|
No, I closed the door and Mrs. Reasons put them into their crate until I was done. I cleaned up after myself, but it wasn't too messy.

Re: What's up with you?
I haven't been feeding the crows as much, I love the juveniles but they are really squawky and I didn't really want to get labeled as the main reason for the early morning squawking, but I have been dropping some assorted nuts when I can.
I've been watching some corvid researchers and really wish they were easier to individually identify, maybe something for the AI. The parents have gotten used to me, when out walking I'll move out of the way to let them pass, and occasionally they'll move out of my way, I'm not sure if we're friends but they trust/tolerate me within stepping on distance, unfortunately I don't always know it's the local parents I'm walking by until they either step aside or fly away.
I've considered sitting outside for awhile to try and get some photos but my inability to perch in a tree 30ft up really limits my ability to hang with them in their favorite spots.

Would they accept you building a tree house nest?

Re: What's up with you?
Sadly my little balcony isn't really big enough for a bird house along with plants and the few dozen spiders that live among them. I also have pigeon netting up, or as I've dubbed it, The Gauntlet! The 2 inch squares are just the right size for baby spiders to spin their first web, but any baby that spends too long on the netting ends up as food for humming birds who come along and slurp them up, stealing their webbing for their nest.
My place is about level with the tree tops, which has been great to watch their little interactions but also juvenile crows begging for food sounds quite a lot like someone screaming while also gasping for breath while having water slowly poured on them.
View past the netting, (I can't complain).

Re: What's up with you?
I woke up at around 3.30 with one of those intense neckaches that won't let me turn my head, so no chance of sleeping after that and looks like at least the rest of the week is mapped out for me in self-pity as these muscle pains take multiple days to ease away.
Trying stretches all morning but they are mostly just making me hurt and angrier at myself. I will try a hot water bottle next, though they are unwieldy for warming up bits of a person, now I wish I had one of those microwavable grain bags.

Re: What's up with you?
We had a family emergency on Wednesday. I cannot reveal details but it has certainly brought together and strengthened our family.

Re: What's up with you?
I’ve been posting here and there but also have been at the hospital since Wednesday morning when my step dad had a heart attack. At first it was grim. But then he surprised us and actually woke up! They were talking about moving him to a skilled facility when he had a set back. Active bleed in his aorta. Still he’s going strong cognitively. My siblings and I made the decision to place him so not resuscitate and do not intubate status. He has survived heart failure and sepsis in the past but after reviewing his living will we came to that decision this am.
Right now he is crabby and feels like shit but he is NOT missing the Chiefs game tonight. We could not figure out why he kept perking up and asking what time it was, as he’s had a sore throat since being extubated. Now we know it was because the game was coming on.
His goal was to make it to his 50 wedding anniversary and also age 80, which both have happened. My siblings and I are encouraging his next goal to be watch the Chiefs win a third consecutive Championship. Positive thoughts are appreciated and if you are the praying kind, even better.

Having a DNI/DNR is in many ways a kindness, for them and for you and your family. Wishing you the best.
