Re: JD - Facebook
I have both, although I really have no idea how to use Facebook. Right now, the only friend I have on there is my Auntie.
wah!
* One for Sorrow is a friendless freak.
I signed up for it because literally everyone at UNC-CH seems to have one, and a few people told me that they tried to look me up. When I told them I didn't have one, they looked at me as though I had three heads.
Yet, I'm still a friendless freak.
I'm here on MySpace, though: myspace.com/oneforsorrow84
And I'm Jessica Fadness on Facebook, if you can find me.

Re: JD - Facebook
Oh! I'm so excited people are still interested in this.
Update: I don't use Facebook anymore.
Which is a lie, but I use it in such a way that I can almost plausibly deny using it anymore.
I look at it and scroll through what my friends and loved ones are posting, but I don't "like" or otherwise react to anything.
I ask my friends and family (mostly bey) to tag me in posts, so that me-related stuff shows up in my timeline without my having to do it.
I very occasionally react or comment on posts in private groups that nobody I know belongs to.
Since March of last year, the only visible things I have done were to change my profile photo to a pic of Ripley when she died, change it back to me in my Dodgers cap when they made the playoffs, and one time I commented "omg means!" on some innocuous post somebody made about video game graphics. I thought dropping the comment would be more earth-shattering than it was, considering it was my only activity in forever, but it turns out people don't pay that much attention after all.

Re: JD - Facebook
One of the many problems with the opaque trough that is the facebook feed, whenever I see someone in my feed I haven’t seen in awhile, my first thought isn’t “oh they finally posted to facebook again” but “oh facebook has started showing me their posts again.”
Except for the people it overloads my feed with, I have really little clue how much or little others use it, and I’m pretty sure that’s by design. It irritatingly connects me to a few people that I like and are out of state, otherwise I would drop it.

I spend entirely too much time on Facebook, until I get irritated with it and spend a week not looking at it at all. Stupid soul sucking social media.

I use FB to keep in touch with family and friends, and also to hold up the liberal-as-fuck end of the political conversation.

I mostly lurk these days. Skip lots of stuff. Laugh at others. Even post when the existentialism gets too acute or I have too many feels to contain.
My main gripe is that I don't know who most of you are as you don't use your real names over there.

Re: JD - Facebook
Unlike most here I actually use facebook more now than ever before. I used to avoid it like the plague, but all my various family in Canada use it. I eventually found that it's an easy way to let them know what is happening in our lives as well as find out what is happening there. I do feel shame though.
A couple other ways I use it:
i) play scrabble and yahtzee with ma and pa
ii) post articles/links/tweets (usually fighting against something like COVID denial or racism or fascism)
I don't know, I scroll past a LOT of shite, but there is an occasional nugget of quality.

Facebook keeps me coming back because a couple of podcasts have active and friendly fan groups. Also, this is how I keep in contact with some JREFugees.

Re: JD - Facebook
This makes me think of the first years of this forum and how we went from being IIDB users looking for a more social setting to forming our own identity (and having to deal with constant posts by disgruntled IIDBrs long after we ceased to care)
