I get a lot more now that I glyph hack so much. Lots of capsules, mostly the lie empty. Have not yet recycled any, but might at some point as I am constantly running out of space. Too many keys I "might need one day".
I don't think the capsule drop rate really is 1/1000 hacks, probably more than twice as frequent. I have less than 20 000 hacks and currently 34 capsules, but have probably hacked more than 40 as I have given lots away.
Something I haven't got for months is very rare heat sinks and multihacks. Still get rare regularly, but not the very rare (pink). Has anyone else notice this?
Local smurfs arent rebuilding things fast enough for my destructive urges to be satisfied
I'm having to let my own fields/link decay, so that i can rebuild to earn AP. I have a dozen fields that have held for 32 days without even a half-hearted attack. I even went into town and blew up a load of stuff to try and provoke a retaliation but nothing
I suppose there are pros and cons to living out in the boonies
I had 2 Jarvis viruses (virusii?) drop within 3 days of each other when i was on about 800 hacks total! At a drop rate of 1/1000 hacks i shouldnt see another until im over 2000 hacks. Im now on 1240 hacks, day 43 and i have 7 capsules. How does this compare with your experience?
I also got a couple Jarvis viruses early on, but I didn't get a capsule for ages. Luckily an experienced player who helped me level up early on gave me one.
They started coming more regularly later. I had about 20 at one point, but now when I drop gear for other players I just say "keep the capsule" and that has kept me around 10. None of which I use for anything but dripping gear because I have 12 MUFG capsules now.

I've yet to see an MUFG. Still hanging on to my Jarvises. Dont want to waste them.

I had such a store of VRHS and VRMH that i was deploying them like candies earlier. Now i dont seem to be getting any where near as many (even rare goodies seem to be a bit more scarce) and im having to be a bit more restrained in my deploying. And thats with ALOT more glyph hacking recentley.
I've only got three of those MUFG capsules (the ones that occasionally duplicate items stored inside) since I started playing. I've given away a few ordinary capsules full of gear to low-level local frogs, but I've also recycled a few as what's the point in keeping more than, say, eight regular capsules? Really I only need a couple of them for my own use but I keep six or so empty ones ready to give items to others.
But I do have those five key lockers I bought (recommended purchase by the way) so without those I would need at least an extra two or three capsules to keep my keys organized.
For those who don't know the key lockers are like super capsules - you can only put keys in them, but once the keys are inside they don't count towards your 2000-item inventory limit. So with five key lockers mostly full of keys (up to 100 each) Your real inventory limit is closer to 2500.
I keep very rare items in one MUFG, rare items in a second, and L8 ultrastrikes in a third. The ultrastrikes multiply reasonably fast in an MUFG so by aiming to keep about 95 in there, you get a few extra ones each week for nothing. I don't visit level 8 farms that often so this free supply of L8 US is worthwhile.
I would like a few extra MUFG instead of regular capsules, but they seem to drop very rarely.
It's rare to see a portal above L6 around here because there are so few players. So I keep almost all my L7/8 resonators, XMP's and US's in MUFG capsules. Like you said, they replicate fairly well, usually giving my half a dozen of each a week. Every little bit helps when you have to drive 45 mins to see a L7 or L8 portal.
I sometimes entice out of town players to come by with gifts of gear so that I can get the portals near my house to L7. I had that luxury for like 6 months, 2 L7 portals that I pass every time I leave the house to go into town. Then I forgot that you can't recharge from 4000 miles away and lost them when I went to Canada
My longest lasting guardian is now at 146 days, so only 4 more days to go to get the last guardian badge.
I've had a few before get past 130 days only to be shot down by malevolent smurfs so I'm expecting the worst. But this time I have a few backup guardians in even more remote spots just a few days behind in case they take out the 146-day one in the next four days.

Yeeeaah, our local (Finnish) smurfs have an organised guardian smasher team that systematically takes down old portals a few days before they the next badge is due. The only way I can imagine them doing this is with some verboten intel add-ons. I got my onyx guardian by keeping a bunch of ones from a visit to a park in London, and still have one of them going now, 463 days later.
I think this has caused more bad feelings between the teams here than is quite the norm elsewhere.
The guardian badge is butt hurt deluxe. It's the only badge you can deny other players. People who flip from smurf to toad here are main targets, and fielders. So we try to come up with more and more remote places for them to get to, or restricted access/cell tower coverage. Doesn't work, because sometimes they cheat in new and unusual ways, but hey, living rent free in someone's head. Does this couch match the drapes?

There's a special badge you can earn this month (September) by visiting and hacking 300 new portals you never visited before. You have to add 300 new uniques before the end of the month.
Hmmm maybe ten expeditions to new areas with 30+ portals could be possible I suppose...
Out here in the sticks guardians aren't hard to get really. And the few players that are around this area are happy to leave opposing team guardians alone if requested.
Speaking of guardians... I've been recharging some for people that don't seem to be playing any more. There are 3 different remote portals that I have keys for where L1 players plonked down some resonators and then seem to have given up on the game shortly after. So far I have them up to 46, 49 and 52 days. I don't know why, but it pleases me to think I could get them to black guardian and that be their only badge Here is one:
And the few players that are around this area are happy to leave opposing team guardians alone if requested.
So ... how do you tell? Do you have to politely ask the owner of any portal you're thinking of attacking if they're saving it?
Seriously, there are only like 3 or 4 players that ever come to Boston for more than a casual pass through. So we talk every now and then and someone might say "Skirbeck Church is my guardian, could you leave it alone for now?". That's about it really
You can very often recognize a guardian as it will often have just a L7 and a L8 resonator on it, both kept fully charged, and often spaced as widely as possible, plus some heavy shielding mods.
Just having the two resonators keeps the portal down at L1 status which means that it's not so visible on Intel, plus of course people can't link to it which also makes it less of a target.
My guardian (now at 148 days ) went through a stage where some another frogs visited it and souped it up to L7 and for a while it was one corner of some pretty big fields. But the fields got taken down at the other corners and over the next week or so I let most of the resonators decay away to get it back down to level 1
Some portals near my house (there are maybe only 20 portals that are closer) are smurf guardians, way past 150 days now.
Two of them belong to an aggressive smurf who sometimes follows me around when I'm trying to field, destroying all my portals within about 20 minutes of my capturing them.
One day he almost ran me over driving his car up onto the pavement: I fought hard to take down one of his portals (not a guardian) and he was obviously remote-defending it. But I won the fight and then by the time I'd deployed my resonators and was linking, he'd driven to the portal to castigate me!
Every time he annoys me I think, "I'll go smash his guardians in revenge", but so far I've thought better of it.
