I dunno; it helps explain why I've never seen Family Guy as being even remotely funny.
For all of Homer Simpson's many faults, he's [usually] portrayed as genuinely loving his kids -- even Bart. On the other hand, it seems that every season, Homer gets a.) dumber and b.) more self-centered. That's a big part of the reason the show has gone downhill.
By contrast, half the "jokes" in Family Guy, so far as I've been able to tell, are simply everyone in the family being just unbelievably cruel to Meg, and for no reason whatsoever. (That, so far as I can tell, is the joke -- there's no reason for them to be so cruel, but they are, nonetheless.) That never struck me as being even remotely funny.

Ouch!
Family Guy humor revolves around making juvenile sexist and racist jokes while winking at the camera to tell you its ok they are just being ironic. Which was believable until MacFarlane kept openning his stupid mouth and make it obvious the irony angle was to just get away with it. Everyone shits on Meg because shes a girl who isnt manly like Loius.

I've seen only a handful of episodes of King of the Hill, but I got the impression that while Hank clearly didn't understand his son, and felt vaguely uncomfortable about Bobby's "unmanly" behavior, he was nonetheless a loving and supportive father. Even if it was against his nature to ever really show his love.
As such, that makes Hank Hill friggin' Father of the Century compared to Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin.
