Who, that guy? The one with the goatee?

He was a saint! He was a hardworking family man! He would give you the shirt off his back, whether you wanted it or not!

Iíve seen a bunch of rightwing apologist point to the HCA sub as demonstrating that pro mask, provax people want people to die of covid and Iíve seen more than one literally call it a hate group.

I get the umbrage, ridicule towards HCA recipients abounds.

Deservedly so, but I understand why it hurts the feelings of likeminded dipshits.

The part of the HCA sub I enjoy read is the Daily Vent thread, which is where I pulled that post from, it's full of people expressing exasperation with their family, doctors and nurses pulling at their hair, etc. Stories about humans by humans.

The normal posts all show the same general format.

Own the Libs.
Freedumb.
Prayer warriors!
Gofundme.

There's also a bunch of:
My Pops finally took himself out of the running for the HCA. His double vaxxed kids are proud. ‚̧ԳŹ : HermanCainAward

And:
even with all my doubts about a man made vaccine I still got the shot, only award I dont want to be nominated for : HermanCainAward

Gov. Inslee of Washington made a state-wide mandate, coming due on the 18th.

There is one doctor in Mrs. Reasons' (fairly large) physician group who is anti-vaccine and very vocal about it. He is expecting to be fired then, and I believe they are going to do so. He's making life difficult for his clinic now, but legally it's easier to wait until the 18th.

Also, a group of Redmond firefighters are petitioning to continue to work after the 18th, even though they are unvaccinated. These firefighters have had their "religious exemption" rejected.

Pearsonís wife said itís been hard to watch her husband go through the stress of worrying about how theyíll pay their mortgage and knowing there are people, including family and friends, who are angry with them. But he wonít be getting vaccinated.

ďHeís losing this career that he really loves,Ē she said.
:boohoo:

If he really loves helping people, he should also want to help people by getting the vaccine. I'd feel sorry for his wife, who has to cope with such an unreasonable ass, but based on the news article, I suspect she is just as publicly anti-vax as her husband.

In the meantime, rural counties in Washington are transferring COVID patients to the urban counties, because the urban counties have a higher vaccination rate (and larger hospitals). Spokane county is getting transfers from Idaho, which has a very low vaccination rates.

My mom tells me that one of my anti-vaxx cousins has decided to retire due to his employer's vaccine mandate. I think he's tired of having to get tested every week and was shocked when he couldn't just talk them out of it. I applaud him, make room for some new blood. The entertaining part is that while he's eligible to retire, he can't really stop working because of his young kids. BUT HE HAS A PLAN.

He is going to go to work for one of his contractors instead. Who are also contractors to the federal government.

I'm not going to tell him.

A normal round trip with Alaska Airlines from Juneau to Eagle River, the city Reinbold represents, takes around 90 minutes. Now, her commute will take up to two days as Juneau is the only US state capital inaccessible by road ó only by plane or boat.

Delta Airlines is the only other large carrier that flies into Juneau and its seasonal service to the capital ends in September, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

The Red state/blue state divide now illustrated in officer deaths.

According to the officer down memorial page, over 200 officers have died from covid this year alone.

In 2021 so far,
74 officers have died in Texas, 64 from covid. 86%
42 officers have died in Florida, 32 from covid. 76%
31 officers have died in Georgia, 24 from covid. 77%
17 officers have died in Tennessee, 12 from covid.

25 officers have died in california, 11 from covid. 44%
7 officers have died in New York, 3 from covid.
2 officers have died in Massachusetts, 1 from covid.
2 officers have died in Oregon, 0 from covid.

I decided not to add percentages to anything under 20, also wow look at New York with its reasonably large population and yet only 7 total officer deaths, compared to Texas where only 10 officers *didnít* die from covid!

I can't match your figures, but I guess I'm looking at the wrong data: Fallen Officers From the COVID-19 Pandemic

I count 15 in NY, 116 in Texas, but that's COVID-19 deaths since the start in 2020. Stark but not as stark.

I was using the Law Enforcement Line of Duty Deaths in 2021 page, clicking on the states and went down the list, the state numbers they give on the search page don’t seem to be fully updated.

Here’s Texas, it appears to be covid all the way down, with a few gunfire deaths to break up the mix,

I've seen those cop death totals used by a Blue Lives Matter guy. Uh, those deaths were mostly covid, didn't you know?

I am surprised and pleased the WSU football coach has been fired for refusing to get vaccinated.

I honestly didn't expect that to happen - this coach is both popular with the team and has a winning record. Statewide, WSU football fandom is comparable to University of Washington fandom, and I suspect WSU fans are more intense and more Republican.
