It's the same lake, and both cities have at one time or another been legendarily awful places (Cleveland is reputedly far less awful these days; no idea about Buffalo), but Cleveland will always remain the One True Mistake on the Lake in the eyes of Northeast Ohioans. Unless and until Buffalonians set a river on fire, they need to gtfo.

Re: One of those 'Wat'cha Listenin' To?' threads.
Nice! That Joan Jett tune was the theme music for my first marriage. And Scorpions always kick major ass.
Here, bassist Nate Navarro takes time out from touring with Porcupine Tree to give a rig rundown. Navarro is a spectacular bass player with a big presence on social media. Hopefully being a hired gun for PT will make him better known. After all, PT drummer Gavin Harrison would have still been one of rock's best drummers had he spent his whole career doing session work and drum clinics, but a lot fewer people would have known about him had he not joined a band.
And finally, I only recently found out that singer/multi-instrumentalist David Longdon, front man for the British prog band Big Big Train since 2009, died late last year of injuries suffered in a fall. The band is continuing on with long-time PFM singer Alberto Bravin, so the Holy Grail of BBT crossing the pond and touring North America may yet happen.

Damn. I had no idea David Longdon was gone. He had such a lovely voice, which I'd say was most like Peter Gabriel, but without the gravel - just smooth, resonant, flawless.
It is, however, great news that BBT will continue - and remarkable that the new track retains the overall sound.
ETA: And apparently I'm so clueless, that I dl'd and have listened to Welcome to the Planet several times, without realizing that Bravin had taken over from Longdon. I blame the too-damned-perfect harmonies.

Re: One of those 'Wat'cha Listenin' To?' threads.
I wanted to listen to music, so I turned to Spotify and picked one of the "daily mixes." This one led off with Jawbox (a perennial favorite of mine) , and now I feel like I'm back in 1994 listening to the local alternative station late at night.
Late at night because the local alternative station wouldn't play My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult during primetime.
Currently playing something that I haven't heard since I only had a radio and a CD player in my car.

Same. Gonna go through all the albums today, they were a huge favorite of mine in the 90s, along side Lords of Acid.

Here's a couple of departed piano gods, Keith Emerson appearing on Oscar Peterson's teevee show back in 1976.

Re: One of those 'Wat'cha Listenin' To?' threads.
Here's Gavin Harrison with fellow drumming gods Simon Phillips and Danny Carey hanging out after one of Porcupine Tree's California shows.
Porcupine Tree's tour ended on 11/11, but the good news is they are not completely hanging it up. They've scheduled shows for next summer at four outdoor music festivals in Europe.
As this vid shows, Carey is both a top notch drummer and a brave soul. Gotta have brass balls the size of grapefruits to go onstage in front of an audience and perform Rush's YYZ with Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee.

Re: One of those 'Wat'cha Listenin' To?' threads.
I saw a clip of the first girl in this video (Cocona) on TikTok and that sent me looking for the whole thing on YouTube. After watching it a few times I spent many hours yesterday (no cap) watching other people react to it. I don't know if they are making these girls in a lab or what but Cocona is only 16 and the oldest, Jurian, is 20. And they aren't just rappers, they sing and dance like superstars as part of a larger girl group as well. For the record they reject the "kpop" label and prefer "global group".
