Re: The Nick Cave Appreciation thread, detractors well be skull fucked to death
Nick Cave is God.
He totally rocked. Too cool for school. We gave him a standing ovation and called him back for 2 encores.
Yes indeed. God was in the house.
I'll say more when I get home. I'm still in Auckland at the mo, and the bacon and eggs is almost ready.
Bey, man, ya shoulda been there.

Re: The Nick Cave Appreciation thread, detractors well be skull fucked to death
Awesome, a Nick Cave appreciation thread!!
I'm so jealous, my brother is seeing him Friday but I have a too long planned dinner that I risk death by missing. Grrrr.
All the songs already mentioned are great, but I don't think anybody mentioned "As I sat sadly by her side". I adore that song.
Funny story, was listening to one of my fave comedians on the radio and he was telling a story of how he was stuck at Adelaide airport and sitting there depressed. Nick Cave also happened to be there and came up to him and told him it wasn't that bad. Hehehe Nick Cave telling a comedian not to be so depressed!!!

For those of you interested, Nick Cave will be on Home and Hosed tonight on triple j . You can listen to it online from 9pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (12 noon GMT). I believe he will be co-hosting, or atleast sticking around for a while and talking about himself.

Re: The Nick Cave Appreciation thread, detractors well be skull fucked to death
what time is it gmt right now?
I know that it is 5-6 hrs ahead of the eastern seaboard, but currently I am on daylight savings time,
I guess I will just stay up until it comes on, how many hrs away is it?
not that it matters I am listening to triplej all request or whatever and so far it seems to be much better than anything around here would be offering.

It's about an hour and a half away from now, Bey. Sydney's 2 hours behind us.
I'd love to listen to it - and thanks for the heads up, raspberrybulletchocolategirl! - but I'm so sleepy tired I doubt I'll make it through the next half hour.
Feel like a nana going to bed so early.

It's an hour and 10 minutes from now.
And yeah, triple j is the best radio station in the world IMHO.

Cheeky bleeder. It's almost half past ten! Way past an old working nana's bedtime. I'm even wearing fluffy slippers, dammit!

Anyway, I did manage to stay awake till about 11.30ish, and TripleJ didn't air the Nick Cave thingy!
Hopefully, this means it's still to come...

If you missed Nick Cave on JJJ, you can download it and listen, that what i did.
Its there on the website somewhere
There is a great bit of an old interview a woman askes him something like this.
"Your song Lucy, always bring out emotions in me, its very powerful and loving. Were you in love when you wrote that song?"
Oh so cool Nick " I was in rehab"
Laughter in background.
Great response i thought.

Re: The Nick Cave Appreciation thread, detractors well be skull fucked to death
Well I wasn't going to bump this thread just to say so, but since you have...
The "Nick Cave" song I downloaded from pepperspray's gmail ("The Passenger") is actually Michael Hutchence, from the Straight Line album.
ETA: Oops, I just figured out it was your birthday thread where I mentioned having downloaded "The Passenger".
Funnily enough I even said it had "tinges of [...] INXS".

Yeah I can't be positive, but I'm fairly certain my "into my arms" came from pepper's gmail. Not postive, but credit where it may be due... just in case.

Re: The Nick Cave Appreciation thread, detractors well be skull fucked to death
At the risk of a fatal skullfucking, I have to ask whether Cave and his Seeds are as ... melodramatic as I thought their greatest hits were. Excellent music, just not my current taste.
"Into My Arms" is of course fantastic; I have it from the Zero Effect soundtrack.

Re: The Nick Cave Appreciation thread, detractors well be skull fucked to death
Those are pretty.
I used to listen to Murder Ballads a lot, when I was in senior high school back in '04, but couldn't get my hands on anything else at the time through illegal channels. I found Nick Cave again last year by accident when I was browsing soundtracks (the Deathly Hallows) and there was a track 'O Children', which is nice, but I've estranged a titbit.
