True Story: Prior to that time I was enjoying a fine cigar outside and saw an older gent in Red Sox gear. Obviously we talked, and then the subject of Whitey Bulger came up. A very good book on the case--published just after Whitey "disappeared," is Black Mass. I mentioned it to him. The book chronicles a particularly infamous case of Whitey coming into a legitimate business, telling the owners to fuck themselves, and taking it over because, "fuck you!"
The owner was this guy's sister.
So, of course, I "told Me Mom"--after telling ChuckF's Mom . . . and YOUR MOM!--and hummed "It's a Small World After All."
And I was fucked.
For . . . fucking . . . days!
Though back when The Sandman was an "edgy" graphic novel [Comic book.--Ed.] rather than a self-indulgent paragon to unrequited ego, there is a serial killer--at a "Serial Convention"--satire of comic/SciFi conventions--named "Funland" who prowled an amusement park. He claimed the park found it best to cover up all trace of occasional disappearances than deal with the bad publicity.
When he attacks, he hums "It's a SMALL World". . . .
A few days ago I had a dream where I was programming in surtitles for a performance of The Barber of Seville and had this as an earworm when I woke up:

My daughter has been singing this abomination over and over again. And playing it on the computer every chance she gets. It's truly terrible, a horrid earworm from the very pits of Hell. So of course I'm sharing it with all of you!
