That sounds good! I got tons of cabbage this summer, so I have tons of sauerkraut now and am running out of ideas for it.

My dad used to make stuffed cabbage with sauerkraut, but it turns out Matlock doesn't like sauerkraut, so I'm afraid I'd be stuck eating it all myself if I made that.

That I could do, though. He can have plain noodles.

Yes, so saute some onions (bacon,if you like too) add the sauerkraut and lots of pepper.

I use whatever noodles I have around, penne or linguini, Cook and toss them in some butter, top with the sauerkraut/bacon/onions and then a HUGE dollop of sour cream on top. :hungry:

I have never had sauerkraut I've liked. I am also a picky eater.
BUT I MADE THE BEST STEAK EVAH IN MY CAST IRON PAN. I had to tell someone.

He knows the kibble is for my dog nieces and yet he persists in grabbing a handful ever time he walks by the bag. I guess he's always too full by "real" dinner time for his regular humang food.

I am about 93% sure that's a joke. I MIGHT believe it if it were just the spaghettios in a pie shell, but the thing where she rolls out the bread with her forearms while wearing that floppy-sleeved sweater, and the milk so it's 'juicy,' and cutting off half the bread are all just too much.

Also, even in the full version, they don't show the finished project, much less show anyone eating it.

But even assuming it is a joke, it's wasting food, which is Big Sin.

So I'm mad either way.

And never mind she didn't empty the can(s) or the spoon after "stirring."

(I'm p sure the final step is bake in a toaster oven at 375 for twenty to twenty five minutes and then throw it in the garbage so the possums can have it. The toaster oven I mean.)

Red beans and rice! Cayenne pepper was kind hard to find, I don't know why.

I couldn't find the recipe my friend scribbled down for me on a scrap of paper so I had to use a different recipe. It came out okay, but I'm not crazy about the andouille sausage I ended up using. It tastes kinda like a spicy hotdog. Still, it's homey and tasty. With a little Pickapeppa sauce, it's really yummy.

Last night the Mor-man made a steak and mushroom pie and put a quarter cup of Red Wine in it.

It was basically a beef stew, covered with a layer of phyllo pastry, but man was it good.

I had a pepperoni-and-cheddar omelet for dinner last night. Omelets are my go-to meal whenever no one is particularly hungry for anything, or when Mrs. S and Daughter are craving something saucy over rice.

We often have eggs for dinner. Sometimes frittata, sometimes shakshuka and sometimes the wonderful brinner.

Right now we have so many eggs we gave a dozen to the neighbour when we asked if we could have the outside mailbox he seemed to be chucking away. It's in fine shape and ours is hurting. He said we could have it for free but Sou said he's be doing us a favour taking a dozen. We got 4 new hens just before the last lockdown and now they all seem settled in and they're laying 4 a day pretty much. Even 1 of the old girls is still laying occasionally, so some days we get 5. Sou freezes them scrambled up and then once thawed you can use them for anything that asks for a beaten egg. But we still have a lot of eggs.

:egg: :chicken: :egg: :chicken: :egg: :chicken: :egg: :chicken: :egg: :chicken:

edit: oh and dinner tonight is leftover satay stir fry with rice.

Don't feel like cooking tonight. But also feeling blue because it's Lunar New Year tomorrow and I'm crap at making Chinese food. The local places are no good. And I miss my Mom's cooking.

We made deep pan pizza with yet another recipe and this one finally hit the mark :zomg:

Both Sou and I really like Pizza Hut style deep pan pizza and this one was perfect for us. Yes it's very greasy, but as a once in a blue moon treat it's sooooooo good.

Also, Sou made pecan pie for the first time and we're about to eat that for dessert. Hoping it's as amazing as the pizza....

It was pretty damn good. The flavour was perfect, it just needs like 1/3 less pecans and more filling. It was a bit too dry in the middle because the pecan to filling ratio was off. I think it'll be perfect next time we try. We have a shitload of pecans, so we'll be making it again in the future for sure.

We're having steak. My mom sent me a box of steaks from Omaha Steaks. She's the queen of mail order gifts.

Nothing like calling up rigorist and saying "we got meat in the mail today!"
