I have been using raise as my word to start (but not using the algorithm posted above) and it's been a pretty good starting word so far.

I was unable to get this to format correctly using any method in the quick reply box, but when I opened the full new post page it worked with indent.

I don't even need the indent if I use the full new post page. Quick reply and the edit function seem to bork it.

This probably doesn't help most people, I could (easily) build Mac OSX and Ubuntu binaries. If you're feeling bold about running a binary off a github build:

The Windows build doesn't like the fact that I used openssl. If I get around to it, I can switch to some other library so I can make a windows binary.

Wordle does use repeated letters sometimes. If you guess more repeated letters than are in the solution word, the extra duplicated letters that aren't in the answer will be grey.

One thing I did was turn on "hardmode" in the settings - if you have a green letter, you have to place it, and if have a yellow letter, you have to use it. I actually find this easier, not harder, because it forces me to be more selective in what I choose. Today was an exception.

Interesting. That's the way I play naturally, didn't know it was considered harder.

I tried 'gropy' in this puzzle and found that it fully rejects words it doesn't think are words without making you lose a turn, so that's nice.
