Re: The Make Something Every Week Contest
I am ... not entirely clear. Despite the richer photo. Is this a bar stool? A seed head of some kind? A xenomorph?

Perhaps it's an alien penis.
More seriously, it looks kinda like a pitcher plant...

A giant mushroom with a lake inside it, feeding a waterfall. I got sick of working from photo references.
I'll make a better version of it, someday. Today is not that day.

Re: The Make Something Every Week Contest
I designed this thing and then printed it out on my 3D printer.
I'm mainly doing it to learn how to drive a 3D CAD program, but hopefully the finished article, for which this is just one part, will turn out to be useful and interesting.

(1) Here you go, with a pound coin for scale.
(2) I shall not yet reveal that information: it will be more fun to see if you can guess. I may post images of some of the other components as they're designed and printed.

I wasn't very proud of this at first, but the way it kept catching my peripheral vision and making me twitch couldn't be denied.
Spoiler in case of arachnophobia.
Have fun with that.

Re: The Make Something Every Week Contest
So, I didn't make this myself. The Li'l Puppet did. For those of you not aware of all Internet traditions, a recent one is to make videos wherein one shows off one's expensive things by showing it on a computer display, then snapping one's fingers and jump-cutting to the hand holding the displayed thing.
This is her unique take on that.

I've heard this before, but I can't remember if it's a folk song, a medieval magic spell, or part of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
