Just got in with the wee one, he's instantly in love with Mr Curses. It's adorable. Now I have to go buy cat litter. I can't believe I remembered everything else but litter.

He is a handsome devil indeed. My friend was quite good in socializing him with people and other cats so he's taken quite well to the house. It's like night and day, Carson and the dearly departed Kali. The other two cats aren't too keen but there haven't been any incidents worse than a bunch of hissing yet. They'll be supervised introductions all week to get the bunch acclimated but until then Carson gets the guest bathroom all to himself.

Carson is a beautiful little man, curses! You are going to have so much fun!

Tonight is our last night with little Luna, :mlpcry:.

But that is because she is going to an awesome new home!

Tomorrow she goes in to have surgery in the morning but will go home in the evening with a fantastic family we found who is already pre approved. So she won't even spend a night at the HS. A double win because that's less trauma for her and fewer resources for the HS.

So the other night we went to the winery for the twins' birthday. We had to take Luna because we weren't going to leave her unchaperoned. She got lots of love and pets, but I wasn't really bothering with pushing the adoption thing. I had faith the HS would deliver that.

But at the end of the evening, as we were leaving a woman saw her and I noted a different look in her eyes than the other puppy fans. Her eyes looked like she didn't just want to play, she needed this pup. It turns out she lost her ten year old black lab just before Christmas to a heart defect. She has been grieving since, but Luna's little black wrinkled face just melted her heart. We exchanged contact info and told her we were working through HS and she was super proactive. She made a huge donation and even started a drive for supplies in her neighborhood association.

Dig this: She has an acre and a half, fully fenced and a HUGE ranch house. Luna will be an indoor dog. Not only that, she is a stay at home mom with a darling little six year old who is great with animals. We did a home visit and Luna got along great with her, the kitties, the bunnies and the chickies. (Apparently one of the kitties started pining after we left for Luna, she was a kitten with their previous boy and has been depressed without him.) We also saw pix of them on family vacations where they always bring the animals. "We couldn't kennel them!" they said. So Luna has many ski trips at the condo ahead of her, the lucky little thing.

We are going to miss her, (Dante especially, they are thick as thieves now :giggle:) but we can't feel sad as she is going to a great home. I promise I will get pix up tomorrow. Between Luna and the twins' bday / party I have heaps to go through.

It really, really is. They are wonderful folks and Luna is going to have a great life. These are the moments that make it all worth while. :flowerdance:

This also has inspired me to change tactics a bit in our adopting methods. While the pub has been great in the past for finding homes, in this economy the hipsters are hurting. The winery though is full of a different clientele entirely. We might take Muppet up there this Thursday to see what we can do for him. You never know.

Also, Contra and I made a bet today to see how many dogs are going to cross our path needing help this summer. He says two more. I think it is going to be more like four. We shall see who gets a shiny quarter.

We have pics and lots of stuff to talk about from our trip, but I have to go to work first. For now I just wanted to say that it is so good to have my puppies back! They were so surprised to see us after a whole week I'm sure they had given up on us ever coming back. They have been all up in us ever since, and so well-behaved it is mind-blowing.

They got bathed and nails cut while they were away, and I'm sure it was completely traumatic for them, but they smell super pretty now.

So I haven't done an update in a while. We have totally settled in to a routine life of ample attention and near-constant fulfillment of wants. Recent picture:

Every day is spent with one or more dads. On days when I'm working, he goes to work with other dad, and hangs out in the kennel with all the other pups at the vet's office for checkups and stuff. Everybody loves on him there, so he kind of gets stuffed with treats and gets some play time. On days when I'm not working, he stays at home with me. It's p. boring when I'm the only one home, because I have to do bar review, but at some point in the day I will take a practice book and we'll go to the dog park for 60-90 minutes.

He looooooves the dog park and is really great with other dogs. He picks good friends, and avoids general affrays caused by less-good other dogs. He's pretty content to exhaust himself there, so we can come home and he can take a nap for a while.

Crate training as been a success. He rarely has to spend more than an hour or two alone during the day, but he doesn't object to the crate. Sometimes when he's tired or cranky, or the cat is giving him shit for existing, he'll go hang out in the crate with the door open, because that's his spot.

That little bald spot on his chest is where we shaved him because he was chewing. He is hella allergic, and gets a Zyrtec and a fish oil tablet every day to help with the itching.

We were at my SIL's place in San Jose and found out their chihuahua just had 3 puppies. So of course the Li'l puppet fell in love with them. One of the SILs thought it would be funny to tell LP that she could take one home, because she's a bitch (the sis, not the dog). So our veto of that sent her into heartbroken sobs. The more sensible sister finally fixed it by saying that the pup will belong to LP, but will live there.

Now for the important part: PUPPEH PIC!

PupF is such a sweet boy! I love his happy face. It sounds like he is one lucky boy to have you guys.

Muppet Man finally had his appointment to be snipped yesterday. It is crazy how long their waiting list is at the HS. Has it really been three months since he came to us? He was feeling really dopey and uncomfortable yesterday. He also had major upset tummy from the anesthesia, his blanket and bed was washed four times over the course of last night and this morning.

We are integrating him in the pack now. So much time has passed that we are wondering if we would ever be able find him another home. Plus he has really bonded with us and deserves more family time. I really don't want three dogs, but I don't really have much of a choice. We will still keep our feelers out for a home, but it will be much harder to give him up once he is part of the household. He has left his sweet bachelor pad, which was our air conditioned garage, for the comfy confines of the slanty shack while he recuperates from surgery. We are keeping him separate from Dante and Sylvie until he feels better and is ready to play.

Dante has come completely around on his opinion of the Fluffy Guy. I think it was good that Dante had so much time to acclimate himself to his scent and his presence that he lost all fear of him, even before he was fixed. Then he was jelly of us spending time with Muppet and would cry and pout and get indignant after we spent time with the fluffy guy, (especially if MM got to go for a car ride but he didn't), but eventually that subsided too. He began to get curious about him instead and we gave them time together to make friends. So they are buds now.

I think Dante was actually kinda worried about him yesterday when he was at the Doctor's, he kept going to the window to look for him. Dante was really, super, duper excited to have him in the house last night, couldn't sit still, and was giddy with the new events. He is a high strung boy, but it was the good kind of hyper. Christmas morning hyper. He spent the evening checking on Muppet through the glass door and giving his little pining whine that Muppet couldn't come in and play with him. He also came to get us to let us know when Muppet was sick.

Sylvie is Sylvie. Ish. She seems to be ignoring this new turn of events, not really interested in seeing him right now, though she knows he is here and snuffled under the door when he first came home. She has been really needy in getting and keeping our attention, climbing in any lap that presents itself, gathering toys and holding her favorite spot on the couch. That is usual Sylvie, but she's cranked up to 11 now. While she hasn't acted aggressive I am worried she might be feeling anxious about her place. Which is funny, because I wasn't worried about her at all. We are giving her plenty of love so that she knows she won't be replaced or neglected.

Muppet likes the new arrangement, even if he is feeling kinda blah still. He really likes being able to look through the glass door and watch us and the pups in the kitchen. He has many wags for us and will give us the head tilt when we talk to him or Dante chirps at him. He has been really good about not making any messes in the house. I am hoping house training will be a non issue. He never did anything in the garage, with the exception of marking the door when Dante was on the other side of it a few times. Fingers crossed that won't be an issue once his hormones get balanced.

Change is hard for any dog, but I do think it is going well all things considered.

Oh, Ripley. I am so ashamed.

Even worse is the barking of the dog inside the house, which is Gizmo, who felt so threatened she wouldn't even come down from upstairs. Money shot at 0:33.

This kitten showed up. He's a male with balls still attached and a flea collar (?) on. I opened the door to let the dogs chase him away (they were barking like fucking crazy at the window over it), and this was the pathetic result. Go way, kitty!
