So you've dropped $1,800 to $2,400 on a new Macbook Pro which comes with three USB-C ports.
Would you like to connect an older industry standard USB device?
That will be $19.
Perhaps you want to connect your Apple iPhone to your Apple computer?
That will be $25
Maybe you have an older Thunderbolt connected device.
That will be $49
Want to connect to an external monitor?
That will be $69
So when you buy your nice sleek overpriced laptop, expect to pay sixty to a few hundred dollars extra to turn it into a donglepuss.
Of course after trying to convince us that the 3.5mm audio jack is useless outdated garbage, guess what you don't need a dongle to use...
I am so contemplating a hackintosh with Tri HackOSX/Linux/Windows boot for my next computer especially if they do this shit to the iMac as well.
So I didn't install iCloud for Windows but it appeared anyway. Uninstall was greyed out. Forced it anyway. Plugging my iPhone in brought up iTunes like normal, then an install iCloud nag screen hat demanded to be addressed. Googled. Chose remind me later. Closed iTunes. Opens it again, chose remind me later. Repeated the process again, third try the Nope option appeared. Presumably that's final until the next iTunes update.

There will no doubt be a thinner, lighter, (and more expensive) updated version of the book available in a few years time. But it will be incompatible with your existing coffee table and you'll need glasses a special Apple image adapter ($179.99) to view it with your existing eyes.
Each page will be sold separately and require a specialized $20 book adapter for the 4 ring ofset binding apple is using because it's stronger than a standard 3 ring binder.
Ever so occasionally youll open the book and there will be a full page image of U2.
So I read someone suggesting the price point and content makes it a product for industrial designers.
Then an industrial designer came by and said, that it only shows finished products and nothing about the design processes, makes it not terribly useful to industrial designers.

So I read someone suggesting the price point and content makes it a product for
interior decorators.
I predict this will be found in the reception area of many a swanky corporate head office - or expensive shared business premises - put there by committees.
I hope many of the copies will be subtly defaced by people who've been kept waiting too long for their meetings.
Okay, I give. How the fuck do I stop getting spam invites in my iPhone 5s Calendar?

The new IOS 10 update disabled Image Capture for getting pictures from the phone to the Mac on Snow Leopard. Tried putzing around, nothing seems to get around this. Intersearch says maybe you have to get up to at least Sierra on the Mac for it to work? Apparently also disables sync with iTunes from phon to Mac.
Planned obsolescence at work.

For individual file (inc photo) transfer I'm using KDE Connect but that is pretty niche. You kind of need to run a KDE desktop. (And also for shared clipboard which I'd forgotten was difficult until Little Miss JoeP got all excited about a new feature enabling it with Windows.)
But for bulk file transfer I have for a while been using an ssh server on the phone (specifically, SSHDroid) and sshfs on the desktop, and these are not OS or DE specific. A similar solution might be available for iOS phone and MacOS desktop? Perhaps?
And the real lol is that I can still tether to Windows and click up the DCIM file, then put it on a jump drive and then to the MAC. I bought the Mac in the first place because the advertising was, oh, just plug it in and shit just works. Now I've learned a few times that sure, it just works until the next SW version up.
The thing is I use a company phone a lot for pictures of things I like. I don't want to email them cause then the company can see everything I email. I don't want to put my anything on the cloud because I have a fuck that kneejerk reaction to it. I could get around the file transfer to Mac issue by doing it via iCloud, but I don't want to.
So, it's really irking me that the new IOS disabled simple tethered file sharing on Mac, but not in Windows. Point is, it's the same hardware, and it worked on the old software, so they did that shit on purpose. I hate Apple.

That was old mac. New mac is "Buy a dongle, download a hack, shit just works... till we update it."
Like seriously I don't understand what the hell they are doing to the company, It's like they took all those anti-apple sentiments that weren't really true once you looked into the details and made that the company roadmap.
I have heard complaints from long time apple fans about this, and have heard of more than a few owners of new macs being saved by having a friend with an old mac that did 'just work.'
