Re: Post the best voices.
Here's some Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins. I was going between her or Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance. Aw hell I'll do both. Although both are known more for their use of idioglossia in many of their lyrics.

Re: Post the best voices.
To be honest, I'm not that into death metal and the use of harsh voice (i.e. death growl). I do like some metal sometimes (Mastodon, for example).

Bjork's older stuff is generally better, I would agree. Post and Homogenic are really good albums.
If you like more harsh Björk, perhaps then you'd like "Pluto" and "Declare Independence"
The latter song got her in some trouble when she mentioned Tibet and Kosovo when performing it.
I guess I shouldn't necessarily dislike harsh-sounding metal considering I often like harsh-sounding electronic music.

Re: Post the best voices.
This guy has my vote for the greatest tenor sound of the last, and perhaps any, century. Here he is just out of the womb singing a fantastic bit of Verdi ...

Re: Post the best voices.
I feel like I should have mentioned Brian Aubert from Silversun Pickups by now... he's got some really great stuff.

Re: Post the best voices.
Thrad needs moar Jason Mendonça.
For clean singing:
Death growls + moar clean singing:
I'll post a few more metal vocalists who do primarily clean singing, I guess:
I really enjoy Albert Witchfinder's vocals for Reverend Bizarre, but most of their songs take awhile before the vocals enter. I honestly can't think of one that doesn't. Anyway, here's one of my favourite tracks of theirs:
Patrick Walker from Warning and 40 Watt Sun is pretty unique. Very emotive singer for sure.
How the fuck did any of us get this far without any Rob Halford?
Going off metal now, Todd Rundgren is a highly underrated singer. Not too many people could pull off a cover like this:
And, of course, the original ensemble belongs in any list of great singers as well.
I'll probably have even more later.

Petteri Salomaa - not just technically very good, but also able to put loads of pathos into it without making it sound tacky, IMHO.

Re: Post the best voices.
I also really loved Belinda Shields from My Bloody Valentine. Her voice is so clean, yet whispery. I don't know how much production is involved in this but she sounds like I'd imagine an angel.
To this day MBV have never provided lyrics, so there's no telling what the hell she's actually saying.
