Abdul, do you think there will ever be any consideration given to the rejuvenation of the nationwide railroad network as an answer to fuel efficiency in moving freight?

I am old enough remember when nearly every small town was served by a railroad. The old hometown in Kansas was still served by a short line steam locomotive railroad into the early 1960s. I remember well hearing the steam whistle blowing as the train approached the highway crossing about a half mile down from my great-grandfather's house.

Rail freight is still pretty important nationwide. It meshes well with using trucks by way of "intermodal", i.e. freight containers that go from trains to trucks and vice versa without touching the freight.

What happened in NYC is the result of corruption and mismanagement.

Did you know that the Port Authority (of NY and NJ) was originally commissioned in the 1920s for the purpose of constructing a freight tunnel between New Jersey and Manhattan?
