Cats have it all. They don't have any of those challenges. (The only things they have in common with dogs is the perpetual problems of not eating all the time and not being petted all the time.) There isn't an expression "a cat's life" for good reasons. And yet they are grumpy about it all.

I also use Mook which is fun old timey word that jeans a stupid or incompetent person. I had to look that up, in my head mook was akin to henchman, so I didn’t have quite the correct definition.

I also thought it meant something like that: a bunch of basic tough guys protecting a boss.

I don't think you guys know this about me, but my favorite configuration of dogs' ears is one-up-one-down. There's a 3-year-old Jack Russel at the dog park who has this and I could die. I have no idea if it's possible to get this on purpose except to adopt an adult dog that has it already. But way back in the day I had a chihuahua-minpin mix that had this, and it's the most adorable thing, I can't even.
So anyway, Mookie is at that stage of her ear development where she has one up and one almost up. I'm sure she's eventually going to land on both up, just like Ripley and Gizmo and most healthy dogs. But for now, for maybe less than a week, I am living the dream.
I have read on the line that Pomeranians (remember how Mookie is supposed to be a Pom-Chi? Yeah, I seriously don't see it, but it's there in her littermates), that they get a second phase of floppy-eared-ness around 6-9 months, when they get a second set of teeth and their calcium is too busy to make ear cartilage.
So, what say you? How do I make 1U1D permanent? Do I wait till they flop again and then starve her a little bit or what?

Drinking lots of soda may interfere with calcium absorption. Calcium gets circulated throughout your body as it’s used for signaling (like how sodium and potassium are as well).
Mookie doesn’t like soda, but it’s probably more humane than starving her.

I took one of the kittehs to the vet and he's a whopping 21 pounds! He's too big. If Badger's going to slim down, everybody's going to slim down. Nobody's really happy about it, needless to say.
Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Flossy just had what turned out to be pretty major surgery today. She's had this cyst or something on her back for a while. A few of you have seen it. Anyways, since she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, it's gotten progressively worse, but she was feeling OK otherwise, so her new vet decided to go ahead and finally cut it out. And she seems to have gotten the whole thing, but it was HUGE.
So poor Matlock is living on the couch with Flossy now, trying to keep her still so her gigantic incision stops busting open. It's pretty gross, and she's still a bit groggy, but she already has her appetite back, and it's getting harder to keep her from running around.
She usually sleeps through the night well, so I'm hoping that'll give it time to get healed enough that it stops opening back up.
(When the cancer was diagnosed, I promised her she'd never have to go back to the vet again, so I'm pretty contrite right now.)

Make sure Matlock knows to rub that spot on her ears (both at the same time if possible) that she likes and tell her I'm sending my tots and pears for her.
