My wife lost her job and her 401k dropped in value. That"s a Trump thing. We pulled money to safe funds so we are set to make it all back when/if things stabalize and we go back in fully.

We lost less percentage wise than TSLA so far.

The good, .gov pays us through 2025. My wife now drinks bourbon with me. She wants me to get her a gun and teach her to shoot, because of the increased chance of societal collapse. I've been doing gun stuff since I got my first gun at 10. 45 years ago.

We are tweaking the 401k by moving some to overseas funds. Those are up 7% YTD while markets here are down YTD. We assumed companies overseas would continue to trade with each other while we adjust to the trade war locally.

I just read an editorial about how it's really hard to empathize with the people who are being hurt the most by Trump, because they were the people who voted him in.

Danny Westneat, Seattle Times:

The 4th district in Washington State is the classic modern political "paradox." They're the most vocally anti-government red district in the state but are the most reliant on Federal funds. The district went for Trump by 21 points. Ironically, the state's Democratic Senators are pushing as hard as they can to get funding restored to things like the fucking nuclear contamination site in the district, and there's nary a peep from Newhouse.

Thinking about narcissism and extremism. Trump, and any narcissist's core need is to protect their ego. The last 24 hours on old Don's social media is watching a narcissist flail between raging and pleading (I'll make you stay with me).

He can't lean back unless his ego has an escape hatch, and so here we are. In the toilet spin of extremism that must burn itself out.
