Weirdness
I got sick of all the 503's and a support ticket with the hosting company didn't help, so I disabled Cloudflare. Things seem a lot more speedy to me now, except that I can't stay logged in with Chrome so I'm typing this from Firefox.

Something about an expired certificate.

is due to vm's change and ES's very knowledgeable diagnosis of DNS propagation delays and not actually cloudflare's fault.
I bet it's still connected to Brexit though. Some DNS server agreements have lapsed and no one in government had any idea that might be a thing.
I've had to log in separately for freethought-forum.com and www.freethought-forum.com which is just dumb but could be temporary.

I can access from my work laptop but not my personal laptop or my phone. Presumably the work laptop has some kind of VPN thing going on that routes the traffic differently.

I purchased* and installed an SSL cert so that should be sorted for sure.
I also made a change to the 'showthread' template that should fix the weirdness I was seeing, which was when I clicked on "New posts" at the bottom of a thread it logged me out.
Let me know if y'all still see anything weird.
*I don't have direct server access and our provider doesn't support LE

I noticed too for awhile, but seems better now. Intermittent issues suck because support is always like "I don't see anything wrong".
