I am now over Covid. My pfizer vaccine did not do its job.

I'm not getting a booster unless the government takes over the production. Pfizer is making $28 billion a quarter and you can still get Covid. Lucrative government contract, like military contracts.

I'll wait for a real solution from overseas to work its way here.

"Big Oil" ain't got shit on Big Pharma.

The masses will have to remain disorganised and the teams undeployed. Such is life.

I bought a BIG pack of little pastries from Costco yesterday, not really knowing what they were, other than just pastries filled with something. Until I got home and opened one and recognized the smell instantly: Durian. Also mung bean and salted egg yolk. But overwhelmingly durian.

I mean, I don't 100% hate durian, but I also don't like it, especially not enough to eat all of these with only Ruth's help. (Matlock did bravely try a bite and didn't spit it out, but he's boycotting me now.)

Maybe I'll pass them out for Halloween. They are individually wrapped (with odor absorbing packets LOL).

Durian? :chin: What the hell is that? Let me consult the oracle.

Oh, wow. Yeah. Why?

When I was in Mexico, the kids were all into eating this fruit they called nanches which tasted exactly like vomit to me, but apparently I was the only one. I'm not one of those cilantro-soap tasters, either, so I dunno with that.

My Malaysian friend insisted I try durian. It wasn't quite as repulsive as I'd been led to believe ... but it was definitely a bit repulsive.

The previous owner of this house apparently fancied themselves quite the landscaper/gardener, and we have been dealing with the legacy of that for the past 11-12 years. I would love to ask them what, exactly, they were aiming for when they planted these fucking Japanese barberry bushes which are an invasive species that will not die. I have just now for the second time cut the first of them all the way to the ground, and chopping them into small enough bundles for the city to pick up as yard waste. Next week we will do the same thing. And I expect that all I have really done is rejuvenated them.

Put some light proof sacking or tarpaulin, weighed down with bricks, over the place where they grow, and leave it like that for months. Even aggressive invasive species can't grow without light, and will die eventually.

Another technique I used to get rid of invasive weeds in my garden, was to spray their leaves with the sort of weedkiller that's supposed to poison down to the roots, I repeated the spraying every few days until the weeds looked terminally sick, and only then pruned them back to the ground. But it's too late for that if you've already pruned them. You have to be careful with the spraying if you don't want to accidentally kill nearby plants - wait till it's not windy, and try to spray each leaf/shoot of the weeds from close by, rather than wafting the spray over the whole area. I managed to kill invasive weeds growing through rose bushes without killing the roses; I did accidentally kill the grass nearby on the surrounding lawn, but that grew back pretty fast.

If there's enough woody part to drill into with a wide drill bit, you can do that and pour liquid brush killer down the holes. Then you don't have to worry about overspray. I would combine that with covering with a tarp.
