Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
CatF is probably in his final days. He is quite elderly and has had diabetes for years. He’s recently started a marked deterioration that probably indicates a metastatic malignancy. We think treatment would probably reduce his quality of life for marginal if any benefit, and he hates traveling, so would be very stressful as well. So we are going to schedule a time for a quiet in-home euthanasia soon, before he enters an acute crisis that would require a trip to the clinic. He is a terrible and disgusting little man who has dominated the house by force or will for a very long time, and he will be greatly missed.

Booberry, our Sheltie, has been having intestinal distress for the last 36 hours. He hasn't had a solid bowel movement, but he's eating fine and otherwise acting normal. We've just had to clean up multiple messy accidents in various parts of the house. I thought I was doing well letting him out, but he has snuck off before I could catch him a few times. Thankfully, he has chosen hard flooring the majority of the time. Most of the time.

We had a battle royale last night between all the kittehs. Everyone was getting along fine until Mr. Trotsky died, now there's tons of hissing, growling and out and out brawling.

Zsa Zsa is fourteen years old, which is ancient for a dog her size, and she's had some joint issues with her hips for quite a while now. So we got her on this Adequan stuff for the arthritis, and it's seemed to work well.
But she hates getting the shots and I hate giving them to her, so we let it go too long this time, and she started deteriorating. Her hind legs were failing her pretty quickly. She was having a hard time standing up for long and was moving around noticeably less.
So I got brave and gave her her shot again, and it's crazy how much better she got right away. She's not 100% by any means and we don't have to worry about her jumping the 6' fence anymore, but she was instantly better.
I know it's not going to keep working forever, but this stuff is seriously pretty magical. So if you have an older dog with joint problems, ask your veterinarian about Adequan®.

Is she already getting glucosamine chews regularly? PupF is starting to get a little skittish on his back legs and we started him on Cosequin and it is a noticeable improvement. I don't think they're as effective as the injectable, but once you finish the run-in of 2 a day, it's a constant lower dose. (Note: I have not consulted my veterinarian about this, he is at work.)
Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
She has been on Miristin tablets that also have glucosamine for a while, and I think they work. We started them as a prophylactic at the first signs she might be getting a little achy, so there wasn't like an appreciable difference. I do think they slowed the progression quite a bit, though.
But then I heard about the Adaquan from the shelter when we were volunteering there, so I asked the vet for it. It was kind of the same deal, where she had higher ramp-up doses at first and now she just gets a shot at whatever interval seems right. We were trying to do it every 2-3 weeks, but I think we should probably do it more frequently now.
I hate giving her the shots so much, though. It hurts her feelings.

CatF made his gentle exit this afternoon, at home with his dads and without any fuss. We made the call yesterday. Last night he climbed up on the bed for some night-time attention for the first time in a while. Maybe he knew.

I suppose there is no appropriate reply. It was not appropriate itself (said ashes were mentioned here, long ago in 2018) and I will forthwith ban myself.
Further condolences for CatF. And that is a very fine box.
