Default Turkish Taffy

It's not really available in the UK, though you can order it on-line.

So, which is the best flavour to order, and do you have any tips on the best way to eat it - or can it be put to other uses besides eating? :chew:

I don't know if it's similar, but I really like rose-flavored Turkish delight. It's an acquired taste; other people describe it as tasting like potpourri.

My favorite flavor of anything lately (gelato, macarons) is salted caramel.

I think Turkish Delight is much softer; the taffy is hard enough to be brittle, so it shatters if you drop it on hard floor but it will bend and flow over long periods of time - especially if you keep it warm in your pocket.

I think that, technically, it isn't toffee; and it doesn't really have anything to do with Turkey either, so the name is rather misleading.

Oh, man, I don't think I've seen that stuff in decades.

As I remember it, it was amusing because of its physical properties, but not actually "good" or anything. Which is a totally valid reason to get some, mind you.

I think you should get banana flavor, only because I know banana taffy is a pretty contentious issue around here and you know I love a fight.

Yep...I'd say that qualifies, Crumb. But I'm familiar with the Bonomo's brand, which used to be sold in practically every cinema in America....back in the day. The whole deal was that when you bought the bar and it was still cool and hard, you smacked it before opening the wrapper and then you could share around the resulting pieces...or not. It seems that you can, once again, obtain Bonomo's, even in mixes of bite-sized individually wrapped candies, which would seem to be the best starting point for determining which of the flavors you preferred.

Re: 'Turkish delight'....I believe that the 'Aplets and Cotlets' qualifies, but they call it 'Persian Delight' and they are made with lots of good fresh fruit, rather than the usual cruddy faux flavorings.
