Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
We have taken in another Dog.
The Daughter called from the school and asked if we could have granddaughter come down there and pick up an apparently abandoned pooch.
She came back with a Mutt who obviously has some Lab, and Pit, and possibly border Collie. An odd combo. I think. He was is very mellow, and very hungry.
Granddaughter started feeding him, but he won't eat much. She finally got him to take in some chicken and rice, but not too much. He was with us a week before he passed anything through.
Poor guy's been hungry for a while.
The only problem he seems to have is every time one of the cats (6 of them) decides to run, he wants to retrieve them. He's a natural retriever, with a very "Soft Mouth"
Even when the cat squirms and scratches at him, he delivers it completely unharmed to granddaughter.
We are trying to convince him that they really don't need retrieving.

I am so sorry, vremya. The more you love them, the more it hurts.
LarsMac, congratulations on your new buddy. Our elder statesdog Zsa Zsa is a "pit bull mix" with some Border Collie in that mix--the vet told us she has some kind of dental anomaly that only occurs in BCs--and she could not be a better dog.
On our dog updates, Flossy's surgery wound opened up and was leaking really bad, so she had to go back in Sunday for emergency surgery again. But she seems like she's doing well. She's mostly back to her old regular self, except a little more spoiled and wearing a shirt.

Mookie updates:
Ears are still one-up-one-almost-up.
She fetches! She was almost getting it at the dog park last time we were there. Then last evening in the backyard I was tossing the tiny tennis ball for her to chase and she figured out how to bring it most of the way back to me! She did it over and over. I literally cried.
There was at least one other update but I forget what it was.

I guess one other update is that she smells delicious all the time now. That wasn't the one I forgot, but it is a thing. I want to gobble her up!
Also she's big enough now to really fill in her Georgia t-shirt.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
PupetteF is beautiful and perfect in all ways but she reeks so hard right now. She is many things by blood, but the hound is definitely rising to the top. As a matter of policy, we try to minimize the risks of over-bathing dogs, and haven't gone to our usual indoor dog bath station because of unnecessary COVID risks. She used to get a bath and groom at PupF's daycare, but he has retired and we haven't taken her. And it has been too cold for the indignity of a back yard bath. In all it's been like...five months since she has had a bath.
They are not outdoor dogs and are always leashed on walks, so they don't go roll in stuff or anything. But she is producing this kind of hound musk oil that is powerful. If I could bottle it I might be able to sell it as a naturopathic remedy of some kind.

Vials, not bottles, for the oil. The hound of the musk oil vials.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
We got the results of the biopsy they ran on that growth they removed from her back, and Flossy officially now has two different cancers.
The original one that showed up in her gums hasn't gotten bad again. The new vet was really surprised at how well that one's doing. And she also says the second cancer is not prone to metastasizing, so I guess that's not as bad as it could be, although we need to watch for regrowth.
And Flossy is doing well, maybe a little more sedate than normal, but still running around, mooching food and demanding many scritches, plus she looks extra cute in the little shirts she's wearing, and is getting lots of extra attention, so she's much better off than you might expect for someone with two separate but simultaneous cancers.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
So yesterday King Pibble locked me out of my house and I had to call Daughter to come over and let me in.
These big rambunctious dogs, I tell ya.
Here's what happened: He was getting excited at seeing a new dog two yards over and kept barking and whining like, "Hey guy, come over to my house and PLAY!" This dog was on a leash and I could see they were trying to train him so I lured King into the house to let them concentrate. I stayed out on the deck watching cuz I like dogs, too.
Once they'd finished their training session and went inside I was going to let King out, only to find the deadbolt locked. It seems that during one of his full-body slams against the back door, one of his hands-paws smacked the deadbolt in just the right direction to do the deed.
So there I am, on the deck needing to pee, while he whines and carries on to be let out.
That was a long-ass 30 minutes Daughter took to rescue us, I tell you what.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
I went upstairs today to use the bathroom and get more coffee, while in the bathroom with the door shut, a cat magically appeared. This is the 2nd time this week it happened.
She sometimes decides to sleep in a corner of our closet. It's basically the most isolated, quiet part of the house, because it's an interior wall and the corner is surrounded by clothes. This is where she hid when she was deathly ill, so it gets me nervous if she spends too much time there.
I assume she was hiding there earlier in the week because we had workers outside.

Gizmo hasn’t been eating and we are worried that she may need a dental. I had to carry her to the vet this morning to ensure that they could take urine.
She hates being carried but she doesn’t resist.
This evening she allowed me the honor of repeated penance pets.

We had a bench clearing kitty cat brawl yesterday. Margo refuses to come out of her hiding place now, and Meep gives me dirty looks every time I walk past her.
Vaska, the great big orange tomcat, isn't fazed by anything. He just is.

Sideward Twisting Hound. Of course, you'll never fully master this position without the tail.

So I order edibles from one company, and they only have a couple of drivers.
I take Mookie out with me when I get my order. He has seen her grow.
The first time, she still fit in my hand.
He brought her this gift today.
It’s a donut chew toy.
