Default Persuading People to your Viewpoint

As is my habit, I go back and read ancient threads, looking for something to restore my faith in mankind, anything, a glimmer of hope in the darkness. Sometimes I find a statement that sparks a thought, and that is all it takes. A spark. The kindling and fuel built up over the years quickly turns into a conflagration, then a wildfire sweeping down the California canyons ..

OK that is hyperbole. And I would hope you fucking well know that already. Wait, why the fuck are you even reading this? heh

I don't think there is anything natural about "to try to persuade others", in fact I would say that is completely wrong. But here's the thing, I feel no compulsion, no need, no desire to convince you of this. If anything, I get more enjoyment out of watching idiots keep repeating the wrong ideas, and fake facts, decade after decade. I also know that there is almost zero chance anyone is going to change their mind about even the slightest thing,

and

I certainly am not going to be the reason for it.

The cynical truth that I actually don't give a single fuck, not even a little one, about most people having wrong ideas, false beliefs, stupid ideas and especially woke-as-fuck insanity, leads people to thinking I am trolling. Trust me, I am not. Trolling requires caring about the response, and I simply don't.

That looks like a pose. Just because you are a poseur, doesn't mean you aren't trolling.

Getting back to the original thought

There are three main points in that seemingly simple thought.

"it's natural"

"to persuade others"

"your way of thinking"

The main failing is "others", which just isn't so. If it was "family, especially your children", then I would agree. But not "others", that's not natural at all. The farther removed the "others" are from your culture, the more un-natural it becomes. It's either religion, a Xerxes or Ghengis Khan, or Mao or Stalin level "persuasion", or just fucking crazy to go around trying to "persuade others to think as you do".

In fact I don't think it's even possible to get others to think as you do.

Now if it's beliefs, especially bizarre and false beliefs, that also is more understandable, but that also falls into the same category of an un-natural state.

Imagine two tribes meeting, and one of them wants the other tribe to all believe the same stupid shit they do. That's not only un-natural, it's impossible.

Sure with enough "persuasion" you might get them all to pat lip service to your Gods and beliefs, but now we are right back to religion.

Anyhow, none of this really matters, not even in the slightest, and I 100% don't expect anyone to agree with it, and I sure the fuck don't want to try and persuade you to believe it. In fact, if everyone agreed and said "That is all so true", I wouldn't believe it for a moment.

Quite a few people are trying to convince themselves of their own beliefs by convincing others. Itís no coincidence that hypocrites are often the loudest and most rabid. Others are using you as a stand in for the person/people they really want to argue with or convince but they canít for one reason or another.

While convincing random people of things can have benefits, especially if you have a supplement to sell, itís often just not about you.

I don't think anyone appreciated your point. It's a really good one as well.

I just posted to say I did.

Indeed. But if that is all it is, nobody cares. It's when those people resort to violence, to force others to obey, that's the eternal problem.

It's never about you. Everything, and I mean everything, is always about the person speaking. Even when it is seems like they are some sort of Saint.

For the record, that is 100% true about me. I am not writing with the goal of convincing you, trying to get you to change. (that would be the supreme hubris)

Ever last thing I write here, is for my own amusement.

That you, and I mean you, that you have deluded yourself that you have some other reason, I find that hilarious.

This is not personal. I am using the Universal "you", not the personal one.

From my POV you are an anonymous name (that may or may not reflect something real about you), and except for Disobey (Cultsmasher), you have no reality, no human qualities. You are actually inhuman, from the way you come across.

I say Disobey seems human, because he does. Flawed, ignorant in some respects, ruled by emotions, trying to fight what he views as the enemy. He doesn't pretened to be something he is not. This makes him seem human. While you could just be a bot.

After diving into the shitfuck black hole of a different topic, I stand by my beliefs. But now I know I had no choice in the matter. Nobody has any choice.
