Karen Gillan's in Tampere!
Hollywood hits Tampere as sci-fi movie begins production | Yle Uutiset | yle.fi
Quote:
Hollywood movie director Riley Stearns, best known for the films Faults and The Art of Self-Defense, is filming his latest project in the city of Tampere after the coronavirus crisis halted production in the United States.
The satirical sci-fi thriller Dual has a budget of five million dollars, or 4.3 million euros, and will star Scottish star Karen Gillan and American actor Aaron Paul.

Not America, because Honest Don has done such a good job of putting America First in death toll.
Finland partly because a Finnish group is part of the funding for the film, but hei.

Heard through the grapevine someone in the office has it. They didn't notify us but we don't go in the office much since the pandemic started.

Re: Isolation diaries
Our parking space rentals renewed last month, and the firm canceled mine and another attorney's, since we haven't been into the office for so long, and we don't know when we'll start up again. That means our access fobs no longer let us into the garage.
I found out when I went to the office after hours Tuesday night to pick up some documents and paper.

Snapping up those toilet paper bargains on Craigslist from people who've decided they want their spare room back.

They won't even let me into the office at this point without prior permission. Who knows what is going on there. They are probably committing voter fraud or something.

Re: Isolation diaries
Spent yesterday evening with scratchy throat and sinus/nasal congestion. Better today mostly. I did an online quiz to see if I should get tested and it said just to maintain social distancing, etc... which is natural to me anyway. The sinus and respiratory issues are sadly also natural which is has been a source of background concern all year.

Popped in to the local shop for milk this morning, was mortified to discover I forgot my mask as I didn't bring my bag.

Re: Isolation diaries
Tonight is Pato Banton. According to Wikipedia:
Quote:
Pato Banton (born Patrick Murray; 5 October 1961) is a reggae singer and toaster from Birmingham, England. He received the nickname "Pato Banton" from his stepfather; The first name derives from a Jamaican night owl that stays up all night calling "patoo, patoo" and the last name from the disc jockey slang word "Banton" which means heavyweight lyricist or storyteller.

His voice is just so-so, but Mrs. S is a sucker for reggae.

Mrs. S is quarantining this week. Monday, she flies to NY to help out our son and daughter-in-law, who will give birth sometime between now and then. DIL, besides never having dealt with a baby before, has her medical boards December 8.

Re: Isolation diaries
Our cases are going through the roof so our governor is going to close restaurants and bars (except for take out) and health clubs for 4 weeks starting on Friday.
I shouldn't have blown off going to the Y the other day, I guess.

Re: Isolation diaries
Ours are really bad, too, so our governor...
added a new color to the COVID dial because we're at the level where we were supposed to shut down. Getting to level red was supposed to be an automatic shutdown, but we're there now, so they decided that red is now "orange and a half" and purple is the new automatic shutdown level.
Colorado moving Denver, 14 other counties to Level Red in latest bid to avoid COVID-19 lockdown – The Denver Post
It's not entirely his fault. We have this stupid law called TABOR that among other things limits the state's emergency funds, so combined with the lack of federal emergency funding, closing down entirely would be disastrous.
But these limited capacity things are going to be almost impossible to keep up with. At least during the shutdown, they only had to deal with shutting down the danged speakeasies. It's just much more complicated trying to go after places exceeding capacity or violating small provisions and such. Plus with all the belligerent cowards who are too scared to acknowledge what's happening in the first place. Ugh.
We are fucked. Collectively, at least. I'm hoping we'll be able to just lock down of our own accord without too much trouble.

Re: Isolation diaries
I'm really surprised he didn't issue a stay at home order like he did at the beginning of this whole mess. Maybe he's keeping that up his sleeve for later

Re: Isolation diaries
Spoke to more people today that are positive and/or know positive people. The local hospital which is fairly large and serves a large area is at 90% capacity in their morgue. They are getting ready to move bodies to a site built during the first wave that was never used. I know an electrician that worked on that site back in March, getting it ready to store possibly hundreds of bodies. It was scary at the time but they never had to use it, until now.
That same hospital has been declared a "critical incident" which means they are at the highest level of alert.
Quote:
The alert means training is being cancelled as well as study leave and non-clinical time, and annual leave where possible.
Situation 'deteriorating'
In a statement sent to the BBC, Mark Brassington, deputy chief executive of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "We have declared a critical incident at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, and Lincoln County Hospital.
"The incident is being managed internally with support from our partners and patients should continue to attend appointments unless contacted directly.
"Some areas are either closed to new admissions or have restricted access. This is compounded by challenges with staffing due to a lack of availability of colleagues due to a number of factors."
The documents, supplied by an anonymous source to LDRS, said the situation was "deteriorating" and "having a major impact on flow through our hospitals".
It recommends cancelling annual leave where possible and enhancing incentives for people to work extra hours.

Basically Sou and I are holing up in the house until next year probably. We're lucky enough to be able to do that. I was a supermarket a few days ago and there were about 30 people in there total (it's a smaller store) and of those 3 people weren't wearing a mask and another 4 or 5 were wearing them below their nose or even below their chin Too many people just don't give a fuck, so we're going to do deliveries now for any fresh stuff we need. I know some people have mask exemptions for good reasons, but I doubt that many do. Anyway, people are crazy Stay safe peeps!

Re: Isolation diaries
I'm lucky in that I can work from home - as much as I hate it - and we're supposed to have fiber optic internet by next month so that should fix the intermittent connection issues I've been having.
On the downside, rigorist and I have really been getting on each other's nerves, and being forced to stay home with each other won't help that at all.

Tell him to post more here. Get your arguments out, if not really public, at least to a wider audience.
Or else tell him that JoeP says to chill. Or, if you're the instigator, hey vremya chill.

Re: Isolation diaries
The numbers here are really, really bad, too. So we're expected to go into partial lockdown again next week. So everything closed where you don't wear a mask (restaurants, bars, cinemas etc.).
It'll be a long winter.

Re: Isolation diaries
Things getting worse here too. Last night I noticed that the bar across the street was completely full (on a Thursday) the last couple of hours before it had to close at 10 pm and I declared that if so many people either are that clueless or that selfish and careless then all is lost.
