Assassin In The Palace: Game Thread

You wake up to the sound of a scream, then a sick coughing, as if someone were choking on his own blood. Silence comes but a moment later. Chancellor Victor Kazon is found dead in his bedchamber, and along the wall is written a message in blood: "The king must fall."

Someone had infiltrated the crystal spire, and they could be anywhere.

However, King Cievnik Avarian is a recluse, ruling through agents and magistrates. No one even knows what he looks like, except his most trusted guardians, also known as the Faceless Eight. Masked and armored, the Eight know only duty and vigilance.

To protect the King, the Eight dress him up in armor and a mask just like theirs. However, each suit of armor now has a "flaw" - each one unique. Only the loyal Eight would know the flaw and which one belongs to King Cievnik's armor.

It was a good plan... until the very next day, when the Eight convened and met with their King, only to find in the throne room a dead man in a suit of armor matching that of the Faceless Eight.

In blood, a scrawl in blood read, just like before, "The king must fall."

Yet, with one dead, shouldn't there be one less of you? The assassin has obviously infiltrated the Eight... you must find him before he discovers which one of you are the king.

Setup:

There are 7 guards, 1 king and 1 assassin. The assassin wins if the king is eliminated, whether or not the assassin still lives. The king and the guards win if the assassin is eliminated and the king still lives. The guards know the identity of the king, but not each other. The king and the assassin have no further information.

Reminder: There is no night phase in this game!

The guards know who the king is, the assassin does not. At any point in the game, the assassin may Kill: Player. This, of course, kills the assassin and ends the game. If the targeted player is the king, the assassin wins. If the assassin is lynched, he can kill one player before he dies. Again, if that player is the king, the assassin wins.

You are a member of the Faceless Eight. Long ago you sacrificed everything, even your very name, to protect King Cievnik at all costs. King Cievnik is _______. You win, dead or alive, if the assassin is eliminated and the king survives.

King:

You are King Cievnik Avarian, second of his name, Divine Hand of Tharos and Overlord of Sintherrata. You are also the last of your line. Someone has infiltrated the Faceless Eight, and they want you dead. If you die, you lose. If you don't, you win.

Assassin:

You are the assassin. You know you'll never get out of here alive, but King Cievnik must die before he has a chance to produce an heir, or your sacrifice will mean nothing. At any time you may kill any player by simply typing Kill: Player in the thread. Once you do this, the Faceless Eight and, most likely the king himself, are going to kill you, so you only get one shot. Kill the king or you lose.

Remember:
Faking an assassin kill results in a modkill.
No speculation is allowed regarding the identity of the king, whether it be fake or not. This too results in a modkill.
Absolutely no PMs in this game.

Ok so how do we find the assassin? Are we allowed to ask questions or are we just going to toss votes back and forth till somebody gets lynched?

Pretty much the only rules were:

Faking an assassin kill results in a modkill.
No speculation is allowed regarding the identity of the king, whether it be fake or not. This too results in a modkill.

So, I suppose asking questions is good.

I believe everybody already knows the situation: it was a sneaky-soft-guard-claim by capp to suggest "how do we get the assassin".

Everybody knows that people who say what they are, never are that.

Well I mean as in a regular game of mafia everyone essentially wants to appear as a vanilla townie unless they are claiming a special role. Everyone here wants to appear to be a guard because that's the "safe" role. Right?
