There are 22 players in this game. The roles may or may not include, and may or may not be limited to, the following:
5-7 Black Skull Mafia
1 Cop (may investigate role of 1 player per night)
1 Doctor (may protect one player from being killed per night, cannot protect themselves)
1 Vigilante (may kill one suspected mafia per night)
All game play occurs during the daytime. Each game day will last a maximum of one week in human time. During the day, players will vote for people they think should be lynched. Votes must be in bold or they won't be counted.
When one person receives the votes of 50% +1 of the players, that person is lynched and night falls. If a week elapses with no vote majority achieved, the day will end with a no-lynch and night will fall anyway. Game play will immediately cease. There is no posting allowed on the thread after nightfall.
During the night, the mafia PM each other to determine whom they wish to kill, and then PM me the name of their victim. Any specials that may be in the game will decide whom they wish to target, then PM me their choice.
The townie PM reads, in whole or in part:
Mass role claims will not work. Everyone with something to hide will be provided with a townie alias. Should you chose to claim a role, quoting your PM verbatim is not allowed. Paraphrasing is fine.
For those of you who have not played here at before, you can view all of one player's posts in order by clicking on their username and selecting "Show only x's posts." That will generate a thread that consists solely of that person's posts. The above list links to all of each player's posts in this thread, as will the player list in every vote tally.
Please change your profile settings so you browse in invisible mode. This will prevent any self-styled Nancy Drews from lurking on your profile to see what you're up to at night. Click on User Tools - Edit Options, check the "Use invisible mode" box and click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
Non-players, players waiting for dawn to break, and deceased players can observe the goings-on from the safety of the Peanut Gallery, but they cannot play the game there. That means no speculating out loud on who might be guilty, who might be what role, etc.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me at any time. For general information about mafia, see the Mafiascum Wiki.
I am sending out the role PMs now. Please wait to post in this thread until I announce daybreak.
Nancy Drew, intrepid amateur detective, has always had a knack for getting to the bottom of a mystery. Over the years she has solved dozens of cases, delivering a panoply of felons into the grateful hands of the local constabulary and keeping her hometown, River Heights, crime-free since she first picked up a magnifying glass at the tender age of 16.
Every winning streak has to end some time, though, and when you've made a lot of enemies out of a lot of bad people, that end just might be drenched in blood. Some of Nancy's most challenging antagonists have been released from prison. After joining forces to create a new and formidable crime family known as the Black Skull, they've made a beeline for River Heights.
Hardened by years of pork chop bone shiv fights and prison yard workouts, these criminals have no interest in the jewel heists, real estate swindles and kidnappings of yore. There is only one thing they want now: to make Nancy pay in blood for her meddling. Everyone she loves, everyone she's ever helped on a case, and most certainly she herself is in mortal danger.
As the league of thwarted villains stalk the quiet sycamore-shaded streets of River Heights with homicidal intent, Nancy and her nearest and dearest assume false identities and hide among the townspeople. Kindly housekeeper Hannah Gruen who has been like a mother to Nancy since Mrs. Drew died when Nancy was but 3 years old, Nancy's best friends and partners in adventure pretty, plump blond Bess Marvin and slender brunette tomboy George Fayne, and handsome college quarterback Ned Nickerson, Nancy's steady date, are virtually unrecognizable in their wigs, sunglasses and baggy, non-descript clothing.
But solving mysteries is not so easy when the mystery you're trying to solve is your own future murder, especially when the killers are already intimately familiar with your methods. They're not as dumb as they were the first time they matched wits with Nancy and lost. Now they can disguise themselves just as effectively as Nancy can, blending in with the locals like chameleons, and this time they won't just use their guns to threaten people.
As dawn breaks on River Heights, the air is redolent with hot iron and cold fear. The townspeople must find the killers among them or the only people left will be ghosts, and this time they'll be real ones.
Y'know, we probably should have come up with a code phrase or secret handshake before we all disguised ourselves as nondescript townsfolk, so we would know who's who.
Because it has been too long since he has played and I want to get things going. The quicker we get some votes on, the more likely we are to get our first lynch before the week is out.
Good intro Liv! I think scum is gonna have a hard time getting Nancy Drew, she is a master of disguise after all and is quite a boy scout w/ her be prepared mentality. In her Guide to Life she wisely advises, "Keep your ice skates sharpened. You just might be called upon to impersonate a figure skater" - Mystery at the Ski Jump
