Got stuck for a while, tried an experiment: I made a guess, but in making it, I picked the answer where one of the yellow clues wouldn't be redundant.

Re: Sudokle
Can we do regular sudoku talk in this thread too? Because I am getting way into it and what you said reminded me of something I saw in a Cracking the Cryptic video recently. Simon (and I) could tell that the puzzle was going to go a certain way, but he said he doesn't use the knowledge that it has to be a unique solution to solve it. As in, that can't be the rationale for the choices he makes in the game, he has to get there by other clues. I was like, hmmm. I thought that was part of the knowledge of the game, but apparently that's just part of the meta? Who knew.

It was this video:
He agonized over it for ages, too. "The setter is too good, he would never rely on that. On the other hand, my tester didn't solve it...", etc.

Re: Sudokle
There is actual debate about whether "rely on the knowledge that the solution is unique" is valid. e.g., if you have the corners of a rectangle, and the options are ab, ab, ab, abc, in practice if there is only one valid solution it will necessarily have c in that corner.
i think it is an open question whether there exists any puzzle where (1) there is only one valid solution, but (2) you can't reach it without making that deduction based on the necessity that there's only one valid solution.

Re: Sudokle
I remember reading somewhere that the probability of more than one solution for a some Sudoku puzzles is somehow dependent upon the number of clues offered at the start.
My brain is not wired well enough to puzzle that out.
Frankly, I could GAF if there are more than one solution since when I find one, I'm gonna stop looking.
