Moderator Permissions for Game Mods
Do y'all want them? The way I'd set it up you would be able to open and close threads, manage threads (copy, split, merge), edit and soft delete posts, edit polls and attachments in the Colosseum alone. When the game ends, your reign would end too.
The only potential trouble would be if you're playing as a regular in one game while you're GMing another. You'd still have mod powers so you'd have to be very careful not to mash the wrong buttons. Also, although you'd have the power to stick a thread, I would be highly Dis. Pleased. if such a thing were to occur. Any errors along those lines could be easily fixed, however, so it's not a huge deal.
Shall we give it a try?

Re: Moderator Permissions for Game Mods
So we could change the Sign up thrad to a Peanut gallery thrad without bugging you? Or quash gameplay in the gallery? I also wouldn't mind being able to edit in an answer to a game question to make it easier to find.
I'm cool with getting super powers and I promise to be extra good and not blow up the Colosseum.

Yes indeedy. You could edit thread titles indefinitely (as long as you had mod permissions, of course).

How do you mean quash? I wouldn't want any posts edited for content unless there was a real issue of game-breaking involved. The overarching policies would still apply.

I'm not sure it would make it easier to find since people might have already read the question post before you edited in an answer. I was thinking more along the lines of editing broken tags rather than adding or removing content.

Advertantly.

Re: Moderator Permissions for Game Mods
I've played a game where the GM edited in replies to questions in the post where the question was asked. I didn't like it. I'm not sure all players saw the answers.
We've given GMs a subset of mod powers at TR and it's worked out well for the most part. we had two situations where the mod powers were misused.

Re: Moderator Permissions for Game Mods
I believe you used super mod powers, did you not? Those additional powers were the crux of the misuse, as I recall. I'd stick with a limited set of mod permissions only in the Colosseum.

No, it was forum mod level powers, with some limitations.

Re: Moderator Permissions for Game Mods
It's possible to restrict what permissions mods have in the control panel, btw, so if you didn't want them to stick thrads or edit people's poasts, you could just not give them those permissions. You could either set them as individual forum mods or edit their permissions under Forums & Moderators -> Show All Moderators.

Re: Moderator Permissions for Game Mods
^^ also, I think the circumstances were somewhat unique in terms of years-long grudges coming to a head when one of the parties (the more impulsive party in each case) suddenly had mod powers and the other party was taunting them.

Sticking power isn't singled out; you either allow thread management or you don't. And like I said, there are circumstances under which I think editing might be useful for a GM, but I'm not persuaded yet either way.

Oh, weird. I'm fairly sure it used to be. Maybe this will be of interest, then, although I'm not sure if it actually allows the disabling of those permissions (probably not). Furthermore you can just allow them to open/close and edit thrads and that's it. I can't think of any reason thread management would be necessary for any of the stuff GMs have to do. But I guess that's probably obvious.

Mainly to split or move posts out of the game thread when they're misplaced.

Re: Moderator Permissions for Game Mods
That totally makes sense. Contra and I need to make a mod account to share for this next game. This will be a big help.

And so it begins...
Also, I vote for Demicon.

Would it be possible to only give members moderator powers over only the threads they start or is that not feasible?
