Tesla was wrong about that, scientists only use mathematics to describe what they observe, or to build a model of what they can't observe directly. Scientists do not substitute mathematics for experimentation when they can preform the experiment. Even "thought experiments" are later verified with actual experiments before they are accepted as valid. Tesla was wrong.

That's because Tesla made a faulty generalization. Something Jerome does almost every time he slaps at the keyboard and hits reply.
So, unsurprising that he used that quote from Tesla there as evidence to support his argument, if that's what we want to call it. Seems unfair to both the words "argument" and "evidence," but whatevs.

False, otherwise they wouldn't need to make up dark matter and dark energy to get the maths to work with what is observed.
Dark matter and dark energy only exists to make the maths work to get to the conclusion they need for their model to work.
He was dead on, and its only gotten worse, as at this moment, 97% of the universe, as modeled, is exclusively math.

See, the problem is maths are being used to build the universe when their only valid scientific purpose is to describe the universe.

The new lens hood won't be delivered until Wednesday. Don't see the point in practicing until then.
That gives me a little less than 3 weeks, but that should be fine. My step-mother got the eclipse glasses, which I'm kind of interested in trying.
As an aside, my son's marching band meets that day, it amuses me that they might be marching in twilight. Some schools have postponed events in order to avoid the risk of having kids stare at the sun. I guess the high school doesn't care.

Still no explanation as to how the shadow move the wrong direction according to the current spinning globe model.

Science is built upon observational repeatable evidence.
Your scientism is built upon substituting mathematics for experiments, wandering off through equation after equation and eventually building structures which has no relation to reality.
You have religious faith in that which can not be observed, that is not science.

If there are others reading this thread the correct information may be useful to them, I understand that nothing we post will ever effect Jerome, he's too far gone.

New hood on my better lens - it didn't work out like I expected, but I think I have something workable, I need to practice more, and I definitely cannot hand hold the camera and expect to get the shot.
Now for something completely useless. The solar filter works with any bright light:

And what did you expect? that the solar filter could somehow tell the difference between the Sun and some other bright light source? The filter just dims Sunlight enough to not damage your eyes or the instrument you are using it with, and it will do the same for any light source.

The shadow is not moving in the wrong direction, if you can understand the correct distances, sizes and velocities there is no problem and the explanation is available if you care to look it up.

Yea, lets see if you understand distances, sizes and velocities.
So the earth is moving about the sun, and the moon is moving about the earth. The moon is also moving about the sun.
The moon has to slow down as it goes 'behind' the earth, then speed up as it moves 'in front' of the earth.
What makes the moon speed up and slow down in such perfection?

Re: North American Solar eclipse 8/21/2017
The earth is moving about the sun at 108,000 km per hour.
The moon is moving about the sun at 108,000 km per hour.
The moon moves about the earth at 2,288 km per hour.
The moon is moving about the sun at 108,000 km per hour minus 2,288 km per hour, and plus 2,288 km hour.
As the moon moves in front of the earth it must accelerate beyond the speed of the earth, but then it needs to decelerate as it moves behind the earth, otherwise it loses its distance to the earth, and its orbit of the earth.
What force speeds and slows the moon?

Re: North American Solar eclipse 8/21/2017
So you're telling me, this guy was on a train, and the train was moving 100 mph. Since the man was on the train, he was also moving 100 mph. But then he walked from the front of the train to the back, and then to the front again?
So he'd have to slow down so that he was moving less than 100 mph to get to the back of the train, and then speed up so that he was moving more than 100 mph to get back to the front of the train.
So you're telling me this guy can walk more than 100 mph?
Uh-huh, sure.

You may not know, but the spinning globe model does not have the moon inside the earth...

Re: North American Solar eclipse 8/21/2017
To get in front of the earth the moon has to move faster than the earth, then it has to slow down to get behind the earth.
This is pretty simple.
You need to explain how the moon speeds up and slows down.

Re: North American Solar eclipse 8/21/2017
A better analogy would be a car driving next to the train, it needs to get in front of the train, thus must move faster than the train to get in front, then to get behind the train, it has to slow to allow the train to move in front of the car.
